One suggestion I would make. When cutting your mitres with many the same size it’s much easier to set up a stop block away from your blade and this ensures they are all the same size and it’s much quicker.

Great video guys ... with my hallway wall its would start at the front door and leads all the way up the stairs finishing at the bathroom door. When working out the number of panels would it be best to take the complete measurement or can i break it down into sections? ie door to bottom of the stairs, bottom of stairs to top etc. I would obviously like it all to look uniform so your expertise would be appreciated.

How would you figure out how much panel moulding you need for job like this?
Also if the dado rail is higher than the handrail on the stairs, how would you terminate the dado on a landing where the dado would finish at the banister? If that makes sense 😬🙈

No it wasn't, you need to make a jig at a 45 degree angle, that needs clamping to your mitre saw, because most saws only cut between 45 and 90.@@selinabella8606

One side of our hallway has a couple of doors so some of the walls in between the doors are not very wide so using the same spacing as the opposite wall would look really odd as we would have one of the panels extremely thin. Might look odd to leave them out as it wouldn’t flow up the stairs

Great video chaps! Silly question incoming - if there is approx a 10mmdifference across between where the top / bottom of the panels will be over the space of a wall (2m) because it's an old / uneven house, do I need to do anything different to account for this? I'd be looking to do 2x panels with the same gaps as you've done. Will this much of a difference matter?

Yes, you’re correct. You find the smallest wall in the room first, this will give you the relative size. Wall sections that will have multiple panels should be broken into odd numbers of panels. Three or five panels will have a more elegant appearance than two or four, for the same given wall section.
