I'd like to think that in 100 years time when we are all long gone that there will still be people watching an episode of The Young Ones for the first time and having a great laugh.
I will forever will
I hope that in the lead up to that 100 years, we will still be alive and well, just in order to keep watching !! Shut up Neil !
Dirty Clothes and Popularity | The Young Ones | BBC Studios 1324pm 20.2.23 i am aiming for 140 years of age. so in 90 years time i will recall your comment suggest this isn't the first time i have seen the young ones but i am still finding it amusing... the jokes are probably that old, anyway...
If the works of Shakespeare can survive all these years, surely this can too.
@@Aurochhunter Comments on ‘Dirty Clothes and Popularity | The Young Ones | BBC Studios’ 15.3.23 1939pm you're just fishing for a quote re: what the heck we're discussing... the topic of conversation is: decoding the young ones. so go and decode the cliff richard version, if you so wish... or, this, the aptly named tv sit-com of the debater's choosing... from dada subliminal piggies to slap stick fun - the era does seem to be europe 1930 something or other brought forth into contemporary setting. think shine on harvey moon without the swearing. funnily enough maggie steed's in this show...
"I'm gonna stay and find out"...absolutely classic!
Thanks for the laughs Rik. You'll be sorely missed.
Yes, he went and died, what a complete bastard !!!
I love how Richard Richard is the cynical adult version of the idealist teenager Rik.
Ah, the “Bambi” episode! I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this over the decades! 🤣
Vyvyan has good math skills.
Well, he is a medical student
I love the Young Ones. Forever.
RIP Rick.. you were hilarious
Just brilliant ! Timeless - so clever and funny
Can’t believe Rik has gone ❤️ RIP
This is a visual version of all social media.
"Yellow chickeeen."
Neil - Do I smell, I can handle it do I smell, what do you mean yes?
Oh no!!! I'm being hassled by a killer sock!!!!
My aunt and I always do the routine of "hands up! who will do the dishes/who will pay for dinner, etc. and we always throw our hands on the floor. The last one with the hands on the floor is the loser.
Yes! My sister and I have been doing this for 30+ years now. I'm teaching my daughter's soccer team this too.
Neil: Oh not the laundrette...
Didn't crow up with this but the parents had it and this has probably got to be one of my favourites. RIP Rick
+Shaunie Footman Same!
It's scary how much I've turned into Vyvyan.
Oisin T. Huh? I thought I was Vyvyan
Don't bring me down, guys. I'm not feeling myself today.
."It's scary how much I've turned into Vyvyan."
..and there is nothing wrong with that!
Same
I’m pretty much Rik. We were born one day apart. March 7th (Rik), March 8 (me). And....I met Ade in real life!!! (Rik, sadly, only in my dreams, sigh...) I made Ade laugh three times that evening. Proudest moments of my life!
'Hands up who likes me?!'- I'd put my hands up!
Rik... Nobody like you..
We all love you.
"Does anyone want the last chickpea?"
"I didn't even want the first one..."
Is one of the best lines in ANY of these brilliant episodes! Mike's humour was genius 😂
It's an underrated gem of a line.
If I was with them, I'd accidently raise my hand 😂
I remember from long ago the first time I saw anything of The Young Ones, on the Curtis Mathes in the lobby of my college dorm: An MTV promo with a clip of Rick stuffing his face with pills as Neil wonders about lethal laxatives. I was hooked.
Brilliant intellectual comedy
This stays watchable always. I was like 12 when it came on first.
Richie, Eddie and Hedgehog when they were teenage students 😂
Considering these characters are supposed to be in college, I think it'd be more accurate to say when they were in their 20's.
Goodbye Rik,
As much as (p)Rik is a good laugh and enjoy the character, could you imagine actually having to live in the same place as him? I think we’d all quickly turn into Vyvs
I’d rather live with Rik than Sheldon tbh
Shut Neil, we all hate you.
I would hate living with any of them.
True, I could probably stand the other 3, but Rik would annoy the 💩out of me.
@@Aurochhunter Vyvyan?
Makes me think that Rik and Eddie got a bit older in the young ones and still never actually grew up and then the two characters moved in together and that’s when bottom comes about
My headcanon as well
Don't forget the sort of unofficial sequel, Filthy, Rich and Catflap.
The short answer for the lax pills is yes.
we mean yes you smell, smelly
My mum raised me on these wild students and I'll be raising my kids with Rik and Ade too
Classic!!
The Young Ones: tackling the big issues.
RIP Rik. You are missed ❤
Don't look at me, I'm irrelevant.
SPG Was the best.
If I was ever going to get a quote tattoo, THAT would be the one!
Smelly !!!
Comedy gold
R.I.K
Great show!😂😂😂😂😂😂✌️
The peoples poet is dead .
brilliant
Pure class….
Wow really great Woodstock
Hands up who adores Wrik?
My undies are so old it's just the stubborn under-stains that are holding them together.
Who is disliking this genius work?
I remember this episode 😂🤣
This clip will never not be funny to me.
Not only will it never be not funny, this episode introduced me to Motorhead🤘🏻
Two hands and one smashing blouse up from me! Happy birthday, my immortal beloved! ❤️🎉❤️🎉❤️🎉❤️🎉❤️🎉
Classic !
I was never really stuck on Young Ones. It had it's moments but for me Bottom was superior.
It's taken me nearly 40 years to notice and ask why they have a jumbo jar of 1000s of laxative pills
@Rikairiify likewise!
Why would you cut it short of the “people’s poet” part? It’s right there…
Which episode shows the part where Vivien pulls the chain on the toilet and the cistern comes down on Neils head please?
I thought you were dead!
...well that's no reason to hassle me on the toilet!
(First episode, series 1- Demolition)
@@bbb462cid many thanks
it was my pleasure
Demolition. The first episode.
I wish I'd known that
Thank god he didn't ask for thumbs up.
Why does Vyvyan rip the money? is it still useable?
I dont know about the UK, but in Sweden you can just tape it together and it is still valid, you can even get full value if you just have 2/3 of the note from the Swedish national bank.
I wish you had the part where rick shots himself.
Hahahha :')
Unfortunatley this is ironic
😂
Yellow chicken!
lol rik is kind of being a mood here...
Does anyone want the last chicpea?
I didn't want the first one
The Young Ones were just so exciting and funny and brilliant. And yet, really and truly it was just filthy slapstick, with added Alexi.
TV as loud and messy and anarchic as this would never get made now, because everyone overthinks everything.
What about that tenner I lent you this morning, for your sisters operation??
Back when BBC shows were good.
Thumb's up who likes Rik. & anyone who gives a thumbs down, the rest of us have YOU
The young ones...
All in there mid 30's
1982 (date of 1st episode) minus 1958 (birth of Rick Mayall for example) equals 24 years old. So 10 years out. Hmm...
At what point in age/time is old? For instance If you are 100 mid 30s is very young.
but why michael !
🤘
@rostofroflmao only chld I think...
I'm thinking rik in 1980s gave us stuwie from family guy!?
But they won't admit it
Yellow chicken
What was Mike? I never new.
The yuppie
Watching in 2021 sod today's pc comedy
Lorraine King
Just a wonderful actor, still can't believe he is no longer with us.
Rick- today’s lefty liberal.
Ben Elton and Rik Mayall were well ahead of their times when they wrote Rik lol
@@smnbee75 yup,they seen ‘em coming 😁
@@xl1200r Both Ben and Rik were liberal comedians, but I'd bet Rik would be shaking his head at what liberals have become today. I bet Ben feels the same also.
Hmmm why didn't they fast forward to......Felicity Kendal's underwear ??
Hands up, who likes me?
Slow&Low rik, we heard what you said!
the bet is on!

Yaaaay Scumbag University !!!
I loved this in the 1980's, but it just hasn't stood the test of time for me. Too much banal slapstick. The only bits I still like is when animals and food scraps and washing machines come alive oh yeah, the landlord did good stand-up too. Oh yeah, the film clips by Madness, UK Squeeze etc too. But that's about it. The only two episodes I fondly remember were when Rick discovers a young Jennifer Saunders in his bed (and later rummages through her purse and makes fun of her tampon); and "University Challenge" ("I've got a Porsche!" "My daddy's going to buy me the Socialist Workers Party!", etc.) Yeah, there were a few more good bits - Rick trying to crucify himself and Neil explains that he already tried it and it just can't be done; and Neil asking one of them not to hurt his Marshall Stack: "Oh no, man, not the amp! Jimi Hendrix once pissed on that!" But that's about it.
Helen Bach!😂🤣
I love how Richard Richard is the cynical adult version of the idealist teenager Rik.
