My 8th grade team gave up a safety once. We chose to punt. I told my punter to make sure it goes high & more then 10 yards. My team then all yelled “poison, poison, poison” when the ball was in the air. Their team got away & we got the ball.
Shaking hands at the end of the game I admitted to their head coach it was a cheap play. Amazingly he laughed & admitted he didn’t know we could do that!

1 you forgot a safety due to a "flag" on the offense. If a hold is called on the offence and it takes place in the endzone it is ruled a safety

Back in the day, 60's, 70's, didn't the team that had the Safety scored on them, have to punt or throw back to the other team, not a kickoff?
You can still do either or. Most teams will elect to punt because the ball will go higher in the air. It's their choice to punt or kickoff.
But the kicking team can not use a tee.

He can run with the ball, or down it for a touch back, which means his team would get the ball at their own 20.
Keenly, this means that an offender with the ball is tackled or downed past one's own end zone. That's a safety.
What if the QB fumbles off the snap it goes into endzone and the other team jumps on it,thats a normal TD or safety?
On a kickoff, if the ball bounces off the receiving teams hands attempting to catch it at the 3 yard line and the ball goes out the back of the end zone, is that a safety or a touchback?
Safety in that case. If a player is running with the ball trying to score in that end zone, fumbles on the three and it goes out the end zone, It's a touchback.
A touchback is when the team with possesion of the ball loses it in the end zone their trying to score in. Like they fumble it right before they score and it rolls into the end zone for example. A safety is the opposite where the team with the ball gets tackled or the ball goes out of their end zone meaning the one on the complete other side of the field that they’re trying to score in.
Tim, it is a touchback. If the player , in this situation, misses the ball even though he touched it, it is considered a muff, not a fumble.
The entire ball has to be behind the goal line. This is crucial with the rule.

If the defense is holding the ball and gets tackled, the offense gets safety point? Also as the offense it means if you are in the red zone you want to intercept instead of tackling the defense? (cause you can potentially get a touchdown?)
after the safety is there a new set of downs for the team who gave up 2 points?
No they gotta kick the ball away for the other team to get it so a safety is really devestating
Not only do u give up two points but u give the ball to them to potentially waste a lot of time on the clock or score even more points on their possession
on september 27 2020 raiders vs patriots game at the end of the match i thought it was a safety but the defense(NE pats) were awarded a touchdown can you explain
I think I know what you’re talking about. If you’re talking about the Patriots touchdown with five minutes left, what happened was the Patriots actually had the ball when in their end zone. If the Raiders had the ball next to the Patriots’ end zone and they push it to their end zone, that would be considered a safety. Basically, if offense gets the ball to the end zone, it’s a touchdown. If defense gets the ball to their end zone without taking it from the offensive team first, it’s a safety.
