  • What do I think of my Oru Inlet Kayak after 12 months?? You'll have to watch to find out!
This is the only kayak I've ever had so I can't really compare it to anything else apart from hardshell kayaks I've rented in the past.
In this video, I'll give you an honest opinion of what I like & dislike about my Oru inlet while I enjoy a fabulously calm & beautiful paddle at Cannons Creek in Westernport.
So, I hope you enjoy this review & if you would like to ask any questions about my kayak, please feel free to post in the comments section & I will answer as best I can.

There's a saying I heard when I wanted to learn guitar and was looking for my first one, "What guitar should you get? One that makes you excited to play."
So when looking at kayaks, what kayak should someone get? One that makes them excited to paddle.
I love my Oru (Haven) for storage and portability. I can go solo or take my wife out tandem. I'm planning to get another so we can each take a kid out too, once they have some swimming skills 😊 Toss the kayaks in the back of the car and take the family out to a lake. No big racks, no need for a truck, no trailer.
I wouldn't trust it on rocks and stones, but we slid over some submerged logs without any damage. The hull has a good amount of deflection to slide over top without gouging into the plastic.
Overall, very happy with it and looking forward to getting back out in the spring!

Exactly!! 😀 Oru kayaks are so versatile and they're fun!! ... and they look great too!! I think that's what makes these kakaks so great. It's that (like you) they are easy to transport, store and take the whole family out for a paddle at any time. Happy paddling!! 😀

Great your enjoying the boat. I have one over 3 years old that has been thrown about some rough places, it craves the water, any calm water.

Fantastic!! I'm so looking forward to some warm weather here so I can get back out again! My Oru has been stuck in a box since our state went into winter (and it's been a really cold one!!) 😀

Nice lil review . They really do seem to be great for the niche they fill and for what they are designed for . If i was short on storage space I would definitely get an Oru

Thanks! It's definitely not for the more adventurous types but for people like me who just want a relaxing paddle whenever they go away on a trip somewhere, it's quite perfect 😀

Hi, I really enjoy your videos. I looked at the Oru products but was worried about durability so went with a Swedish modular kayak that breaks down into carryable bits. It is a compromise but works for me. Western port looks perfect, where did you put the kayak in? Can recommend Lakes Entrance for a sheltered paddle. All the best Katelin

Thanks so much Katelin!! I'd love to know what brand you bought?? I'm quite fascinated with all the clever companies that make modular kayak designs out there. 😀
Cannons Creek has a beach that is exposed at low tide. Great for launching! So easy!
Where abouts in Lakes Entrance would you recommend launching from??

We launched off the main street at Lakes Entrance at the little beach the kayak rental shop Venture Out uses. I bought a Point 65 Mercury kayak from Paddle Zone. Also got the extra bit that makes it a tandem. I mainly kayak on the Yarra and this plastic kayak is durable and can take the knocks from submerged logs etc. needs a bit of space for storage but can get it without a struggle in my hatchback. Happy paddling

@@user-jn8jk1rp6k oh yes I've seen some videos about those! They look great! Definitely needs more space to pack in a car but very robust. I love the look of the Pakayak too (so expensive... and heavy!) but amazing design. I'll have to try out the spot at Inverloch one day (we're actually nearby this weekend but it's so windy & hot I didn't take my kayak with me).
