Well, did I learn anything? Actually, I did! Watching the values develop was great. That created a depth of field that gives life to the figure. Just pencil on paper, folks. Magic.
Amazing! Didn't think it was possible to get such depth on such thin 89g sketching paper. I love how you place those subtle darker shadow outlines in some places.
I was this video over and over is so relax me I don't worry I will draw or not but I am so come I feel so good that's good for me that's my meditation and my medicine this video full film my life I don't have perfect reason but I enjoy very much thank you
Beautiful work...just think what it would have looked like if you spent 4 minutes... JK! I saw your responses below that this was about 9 hours total...beautiful!
This is so good, Stephen. I just subscribed to the Patreon and have been following the block-in videos. Great content. Just was wondering if you maybe had any tips on half tones? I can never seem to get my half tones to gradate from the lights to the darks correctly. Appreciate your help!
This really good but it would be better if you would have done slowly step by step but i think i got the idea i had to go to the settings and slow it down so i got the idea im going to try it tganks
Incredible. It is wonderful. I have a question. I see that you use graphite pencils from the Bruynzeel brand. It is not very common to see artists use this brand. What is your opinion about these pencils? Thank you.
Hello Yuliya, that is a long list of materials to answer. The quick version is this- The paper is stonehenge and the pencils range from 4b-2h and the blending stumps are fairly generic normal paper stumps.
@@stephenbaumanartwork Thanks a lot! I am actually trying Conté pierre noir crayon for my darkest dark, but it doesn't work well with graphite. I'm a first year student at the Florence Academy of arts, trying to find a way to make my drawings deeper
@@yuliyayazvinskaya1624 Hey do you think studying at Florence is worth it? Im nowhere near Italy but was looking to go there for art school so it would be a move..
I used to think that effect was impossible with graphite. You've proved me wrong. Thanks man. Now I'm going to do my own. Where's my pencil at lol @@stephenbaumanartwork
Stephen, I recently subscribed to your patreon! I love all the content so far, but are the videos of this drawing no longer available there? I loved how this one came out and can't find the extended videos. Are they still around somewhere with your commentary on them? Thanks
kyle thanks! I do rotate out the older videos. I keep 4-5 months of tutorials on the page, otherwise it can get a bit cluttered. I might make the older ones available in the future.
@@stephenbaumanartwork Thanks for the reply! I wonder if there isn't some other kind of private forum to keep the videos for patrons that wouldn't clutter your page. I look forward to that and future content, keep it up man, thanks
THis is a very old video from Patreon- I didn't even do commentary then. It's not currently available, but than a lot pf people ask for it so who knows...
Pretty good for a three minute sketch.
Right!? If only 😂
Yeah. Could be better, though.
Bruh he mean video is 3min but it's time lapsed 👀 maybe he taken 1 hr or more idk...
@@afsl808 nah, he's just fast
@@afsl808 yeah theres nothing accelerated dude, some people just move their arm rly fking fast

@@stephenbaumanartwork actually mind blowing. I've bought your subscription like an instant.
Looks fantastic, I can't even imagine how much time it takes to draw this
Wow... i'm just going to cry while I try to draw cylinders

Damn this is really good. I need to draw more often.
This is really good, lots of form in the drawing. I subbed!
Thank you!
He very much paints with graphite. I LOVE the way he creates depth. So clever
He looks like he's sculpting the paper...not drawing

it baffles me. Such extraordinary skills.
This helps me with my oil portrait, I've had to do the face several times.
it's so nice to see him finally finish something.
love u stephan ......i loved the whole process 🥰

Super sharp pencils and filling the "holes" in the paper.
You make drawing looks easy 😁✏ keep it up man.
Will do.
Very good 3D rendering. Did you use only graphite pencils? I am having a hard time reaching dark enough values with my graphite pencil set.
Buy a darker graphite pencil. (4B and above)
Not bad..

you draw insanely fast
Eh, could be better (only joking). Anywayyys... What is it that you use to smooth out the graphite? I NEED TO KNOW!!! 😂
I wish I was a good enough artist to just draw the initial line properly lmao
great work. Who was the model, she looks familiar.
Just a professional model out of Boston.

They are pretty good- I think that the Mitsubishi hi-uni series are better.
Great😍😍😍
Beautiful!! I just want to ask, what kind of paper do u use? Thank u :))!!
This is on Strathmore 400 sketching.
@@stephenbaumanartwork Thank u :))!!
What did it say at 58 seconds?

For a deeper effect in your drawings without chasing materials try to unify more your light shape and shadow shape.
Without a doubt it is worth it.
Uff bru💯😍
Did you use charcoal?
This is made with graphite.

Did you used to have a different video up of drawing this same model with a 3/4 view? Possibly in charcoal?
I work with this model all the time- lots of vids of her, for sure.

Stonehenge on Raymar art panels.

The graphite seems so smooth on the paper! May I know what paper you're using here?
This is Strathmore sketching paper.

I'm pretty sure this was speed up.
Do you use charcoal or graphite ?
graphite.
