That’s a lot of exposure despite the lack of revenue. Uploading to DSPs like Snapchat and TikTok makes sense because you want exposure that will ultimately lead to more listeners on other DSPs, buying merch and tickets, etc.
It’s important from wich service and which country the streams are from. For example I got 14$ for 5k German streams on Spotify. And all around like 30$ for 10k streams on Spotify.
Am not able to link my husband account on my DistroKid account, because I don't have have my own personal account here in India, can I use a Nigerian account
Not all streams are the same. 68k streams on one DSP, from one type of account, from one country, in one month, will pay an entirely different royalty than 250k stream from another DSP, from another type of account, from another country, in a different month. They calculate pools of revenue based on these factors and split them accordingly. The more revenue that your listeners generate, the more royalties you’re paid, vice versa. Ad revenue is a fraction of premium subscription revenue for Spotify for example. They don’t make nearly as much from advertisers paying them than they do from subscribers paying them. If your streams come from free users, you split that smaller pool of revenue from advertisers. If your streams come from a premium subscriber, you split that larger pool of revenue from subscribers. Same goes for country, and family/student/solo plan. Not to mention that they also make different amounts of revenue each month, so even if all else was equal, there still would be variance in your royalties. Hope this made sense.
