- It is with heavy hearts that we're selling our beloved Type 2 VW Campervan Dave. We've had seven wonderful years but it's time to move on. In this video I explain all the best and worst parts of owning a combi bus.

Absolutely wonderful video. Those memories will last forever of Dave and of the trips camping. I was outrageously lucky to have grandparents with an RV and got to travel around the country every summer. Those were some of the best times of my life. You get to make those with your family.

Lush video mate. Proper choked me up seeing the kids getting upset as Dave was towed away. It's amazing how we get so attached to these things.
We are at the beginning of our campervan journey as I only converted ours this this year, but we have already made some awesome memories with our 2 year old son. I can only imagine the memories that you must have made in 7 years. I hope you get something else just as special, so that you can make more. You appear to be an awesome Dad and I'm sure the girls will love spending time with you and mum and cherish those moments forever!

Great video - lovely to see the kids emotional attachment to the van. Usually kids only form those type of attachments to their iPads!

We had loads of fantastic trips in our T4 camper but at the end of the day, a lack of space and particularly no loo was the main reason for letting go.
We only have 2 dogs to travel with, and space was still always a premium.
Take on a the positives that your new van will bring.
You'll be able to wild camp, which will immediately expand your options.

My VW bus was named "Basha". She was 1973 Arizona Camper in "sweet orange". I had to say goodbye to her as well. I relate to this video on a core level. I once substituted fly fishing line as an accelerator cable to get home. She went slow, but she made it!!!:)
She sounds amazing. They're so full of character they really do become a family member.

made me sad in the end of the video :( Cant imagine saying goodbye to Dave especially when you had so many memories driving it around the country :( I wish you get your new one and dave gets a new owner who will take care of it like you did chris :) I feel you mate sometimes when Me and my wife plan to sell our car we reconsider it as we cant let it go cox its been there with us when we had lil budget and the car served us well ! Lots of love mate and wish you get a new one for your lovely family. ❤
It's funny how we attach such emotion to objects. I guess they become such an important part of life because there's an association with many cherished memories.

Hi Brendan, yes our cover fit over our roof rack. We purchased from Danbury Motorcaravans but can also recommend VW Kampers.

I've always loved the VW Type 2 "Samba Bus", but they're too costly to buy and run for me. I guess I'll just admire them from a distance!

Definitely the right move for space and safety but they are the true classic which you were proud to own and enjoy. They are a labour of love and Dave will be owned by a real enthusiast, that I am certain.

Good for you. I have neither the time nor the skill to keep on top of the maintenance. Is it really that bad that not everyone owns a vehicle that they have to put “hard work” into?
As explained in the video it wasn’t the only reason to sell. As a family we wanted something bigger. I feel you’ve been unnecessarily unfair with your comment.
