    Euro NCAP January 2022 Press release www.euroncap.c...
    Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
    - a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
    - a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
    - a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
    - a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
    A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
    Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

    In general, Škoda Fabia is actually safe. And is one of my favourite cars. I expected that! Bravo, Škoda!

      For the ones who go on the wrong direction?... Seriously, the car industry (mostly german) should say to the weird ones that is time to change your roads and adapt to be normal, if I was those car companies I would never expend an extra euro to make special cars for the special people!, I just hope they charge extra for the extra task of having to make weird opposite cars for you

      @@JP-xd6fm while the UK probably should have changed over to the right decades ago to match the majority of the world it would be impossible to change now, and it's not like the UK is the only left driving country, it's still about a third of the world. To change it would cost billions upon billions to repaint road markings, change signs, replace every single bus, reconfigure roads, some would need to be dug up and completely re engineered, it would be impossible to change over, for what exactly?

    • @JP-xd6fm
      @JP-xd6fm Před 2 lety

      @@grassytramtracks Sure it will be costly, but something had to be done after brexit otherwise the economy will collapse and the unemployment rate will rise... But seriously, you're right now is too late for the change, autonomous vehicles will be here in a couple of decades so the steering wheel will disappear for good.

    "Safety assist" category should be removed from Euro NCAP as it is just electronic gizmos section - nice to have, but must not be rated as safety equipment. It is in same category with electric windows or climate control or interval wipers or cupholders etc. All those help driver, but driver still must drive the car, not those helpers drive. For that reason, all electronic helpers must be excluded of car safety ratings. If you can not without them, you can create separate rating for all that mumbo-jumbo.

    • @vojtechvokoun
      @vojtechvokoun Před 2 lety +10

      well, it’s nice to be alive when you fall asleep behind the wheel. ya, they are electronic gizmos, but they’re trying to prevent you from falling down a cliff when you’re not paying attention.

    • @Nexus104
      @Nexus104 Před 2 lety +4

      @@SiiliViin these are safety precautions, in case if it DOES happen. Most cars in EU are already fitted with these, even vans and trucks
      And they are different from the personal needs (aka windows, etc), and the driving safety tech (lane keep, aeb, etc)
      These ad in to the safety rating as the car is much more safer than the ones not fitted with these. On the website, it has markings if the tech is optional or not

      Every day those "mumbojumbo" things prevent thousands of minor and major collisions. Average driver is not a perfect stunt driver with perfect awareness.

      I am scared of lane assist, I think it can make you crash, like for example you change lanes or merge without blinkers and the car will steer back. Or you overtake but when getting back in lane you'll not use blinkers as it adds time (overtakes need to be as fast as possible) and the lane assist will steer back. I never drove a car with lane assist but this is what scares me.

      These replicate when you press the braked, from 100kmh, a modern car should be able to even avoid, but if not, 50 is the closest

    • @jeetsupa4362
      @jeetsupa4362 Před 2 lety

      I think it scales pretty well for a bit higher speed aswell. Also there is no good data for this, but i'm pretty sure that the average crash speed is much closer to 40mph than 60mph. Especially with increasing amount of emergency brake systems.
