*Busted bassist and singer. As a musician who struggles with addiction to weed and at one point alcohol, it's so comforting knowing that one of my idols has struggled with similar issues, we're all so proud of you Matt! Thank you for continuing to inspire me in different ways even 20 years later.

1:09 The interviewer smurking about Matt going to rehab several times is cringe.

    @wonderwoman5528 Před rokem +3

Bit insensitive of the interviewer to ask him how he feels about what Emma has to put up with, as if he has any control over his addiction. No one wants to be a burden or an addict.

@@jamesnelson2279the difference being it took him several years to accomplish it, and multiple rehab stays. If it was that hard to overcome, it can't be a stretch to say he had little control over it. Because he's built himself strong and can now control it relatively well, doesn't mean he could control it back then, before all the work...

He's the one who loves talking about his 'addiction ' cos it makes him money. That's what he came on to talk about..so what's the interviewer meant to ask him about?

    • @rae7864
      @rae7864 Před rokem +10

That's ridiculous. It has nothing to do with staying relevant, it has to do with the fact that it's HIS story and he's helping people and families dealing with addiction.

Fortunately second, third, fourth chances exist
I was a dirty low life smack n crack head using intravenously for over 21 years
      Overdosed countless times
More lives than a cat you could say
      In and out of HMP's
      On the streets
      Sofa surfing
      Homeless toothless junkie
Stealing each day multiple times to feed my addiction
Done a few detox's and a couple of rehabs
Got my first day clean May 10th 2004
      Been totally abstinent ever since
Just celebrated 19 years of consistent clean time
Since my shoplifting and general thieving days
I've since went back to school (college then university - Bath)
Worked initially voluntarily for some time
      Then got paid work
Worked in rehabilitation centres in the UK
Worked in 2017 in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 for 3 months.....
Became a carer for people with Learning Difficulties and also became a double decker bus driver down at Plumstead Bus Garage.........
My inspiration comes from my own pain, the harm I caused to family and society and the people in the
      Rooms of 12 step meetings
      As it goes
I'm on my way to one now
A friend of mine celebrated 6 years clean yesterday
      We're going for a meeting
      Maybe coffee
      Then I'm hitting the gym
      I'm 63
      I'm a lucky guy
Each day clean is an amend
I can understand your post though......

@@xodifano4470 nah....I was an opiod addict for 3 decades....I'm still in recovery, reduced to a low dose of methadone .
I didn't go to the priory or any other facility...cos...I'm not a minor celebrity.
And tbh he doesn't help anyone....he doesn't even inspire anyone not to take drugs. He's had it easy. No addict wants to hear him yet again moan about his 'addiction'..
