In this 100% unsponsored video I share with you the purchase of a very special Audi that I bought due to it having been reduced in price significantly over the last few months.
While I had a good experience with Auto100 this video isn't an unconditional endorsement, so buyer as ever beware. This is their site if you want to browse auto100.co.uk
They seem pretty good and customer service is OK but the warranty supplied isn't brilliant (I got 3 months and haven't been supplied the terms and conditions even though I asked (it arrived 4 days later on 27/12). Having said that, a lot of R8 issues are corrosion related and that's specifically excluded on an Audi Approved used car warranty. It's worth noting that a dealer is responsible for a car for up to 6 months by law (regardless of any warranty supplied) and I've never seen a case of the trader winning if it ends up in court (I've personally never tested this as a dealer or normal punter).
I was also promised a new MOT but this didn't happen. The sales person may not have been aware the car had sold in October and was MOTd then but the customer never completed - I found this out via an Auto100 folder left in the boot with the aborted owners receipt in it (this is a very bad GDPR non-compliance issue, even though they said no receipts come with the car due to GDPR...). Ultimately 10 months is fine but being promised stuff by sales people that never materialises is a no no and nobody even bothered to say it's got 10 months MOT so we won't do it again which I'd have been OK with.
One thing they do well is show you every angle of the car in videos and photos - this is not the case with Porsche Approved used cars and is very important considering how many get their front ends painted.

I bought a 2016 OG M2 6 weeks ago, probably paid too much but who cares.
I looked for the best one I could afford, and found a 1 owner from new, 25,800 mile DCT £28,749.
I don't buy cars to make money, I buy them to drive and enjoy.
Car prices maybe falling but it perplexes me as it’s swings & roundabouts you’re new car price is low however if you’ve got a px that’s also going to be low 🤷♂️
Its the love of Car from the mechanical and feel of the drive that just keeps us involved in all things car
There’re some great people at auto100 but the maintenance/prep into some vehicle is shocking!
PLEASE check your discs! I’d seen a few instances where minimum thickness had been reached and the discs were skimmed to look presentable.

I owned a gated V10 R8 and it was far too easy to outdrive its Quattro system and confuse the car. It must be driven with traction fully off 100% of the time to prevent it from braking on its own or diverting power at all the wrong times creating dangerous situations and even worse, preventing recoveries. VAG didn’t have this issue in less powerful manual Quattros but there’s a limit to that system. Still a phenomenal car, and a legendary gearbox but honestly I’d buy a V8 if you’re looking for the bolt action experience, and a Lambo if the V10 is what you’re after. Or, get the gated v10 and convert it to rwd only and fully disable tc.
Good feedback thanks. I can’t fund a V10s fuel bills and don’t get on with the manual, hence the S tronic V8. I don’t feel it’s a car that I’ll be pushing the limits of grip in very often especially on the road (GT4 is for the that), as it’s got a lot of grip and is big and wide but maybe I’ll get try it on track one day 👍

I have a gen 1 R8 and got them refurbished by a company in Poland. Would recommend that route.

Nice car very nice spec. You don’t normally see bucket seats in a car like that. Nice to see glad you got your dream car not meany people get the opportunity to get what they want out of life. Never seen that many supercars under one roof. Criss Harris showed some stock on one of he’s VT it wasn’t touching that stock wow I don’t understand why no one has ever showed that place before. There insurance bill must be sky high. R8 looks amazing it's great for the new year ahead.
I have a small amount of criticism, and I mean it earnestly. When you view your channel throughout there is lots of different cars. I suppose that adds variety and brings in a range of crowds. But, some of the content doesn't go deep or long enough -- or even follows a story arc. Not sure if what I have said make sense - but once again, I mean it genuinely.
Would have to agree Andrew, Motoring Journalists seem to rave about manual Gear Boxes, however there is a comparison there with Rose Tinted spectacles, the reality is they are not that good. (In my opinion )
It's horses for courses in many ways with gearboxes but the key point with the gated manual is that it puts form in the way of function - drive a GT4 and you know how good they can be and don't want anything less.

Nice, but to be honest, I'd prefer your friends RS TT. cheaper and more practical.
Running costs have not (and will never) fall to affordable levels for vehicles such as these.

Not this example specifically necessarily, but is there still room to negotiate with dealers on price when you see recent reductions or are main dealers holding firm on the advertised price? I like to be astute as I can with finances in general, but I buy a car every 12 years or so, so hard to call on much experience (especially in these turbulent times).

I'd say I30Ns are taking a bit of a hit right now, have a look with the price tracker and you will get an idea. If selling, the important thing to do is shop around trying different dealers/buyers are some are less clued up than others
I wouldn’t say the market has crashed 😂 just cars being sold at realistic prices again! Better for buyer, not so much sellers!

Thanks Maverick. I chose my words carefully in the video as I agree it's not a crash yet (I said iver 20% and you could call it that and we aren't there yet...). In the title of the video again I avoided the word crash, collapse maybe over states it a little but I have to be succinct and it's still possible prices may go down further that where the are now. Bearing in mind the stability the used car market experienced for decades prior to 2020 (aside from a dip and bounce back in 2008/9), what's happening today is worth of coverage but I do hope it will be better in the New Year (as it was in 2009). 🤞🏻
They haven't even got back to near pre COVID levels .

Thanks! Yes indeed, R tronic is automated manual so very slow and you need to lift between shifts ideally. S tronic is proper dsg twin clutch so cutting edge technology and super fast and smooth. In fact it’s weird hearing an old school v8 shift so fast 💨 It’s also got a sport mode which opens the valves and extends shift points, sounds great without being annoying
It's a win-win, I've had 5/6 personal cars, had more than 3 recent modern classics with early Automated Manuals / Robotic manual, and they're so slow and out of date they remind me of early Turbo boost. M140i Step also had, the XF-8 speed and that riffle bolts like a double clutch without being one. Fast boxes do make cars great!!!!@@volkswizard
If it drives more comfortable than the gts I can definitely understand the swap. Plus what a driveway you have until its sold.

Thank TeaVR! Yes the more I look at grey on grey the more I think we can do better. I have said in the past I'd never buy an Audi R8 again because the dealers are useless. Big difference now is they are so old that it makes no difference to the value and an RE Performance or APS history may even add value these days.
Being offered just £17500 for my minted 68 plate 335d with only 39k miles and full BMWSH.Then i look at what they want for what they're selling and i just think 'nah'.No wonder the trade is in a mess.Folk aren't stupid.
