Joey: So, Ross and Rachel got married, Monica and Chandler almost got married, do you think you and I should hook up?
Phoebe: Oh we do, but not just yet.
Joey: Really?! Well, when?
Phoebe: Okay umm, well, first Chandler and Monica will get married and be filthy rich by the way. Yeah. But it wont work out.
Joey: Wow.
Phoebe: I know. Then, Im gonna marry Chandler for the money and youll marry Rachel and have the beautiful kids.
Joey: Great!
Phoebe: But then we ditch those two and thats when we get married. Well have Chandlers money and Rachels kids and getting custody will be easy because of Rachels drinking problem.
Joey: Oh-oh, what about Ross?
Phoebe: I dont want to go into the whole thing, but umm, we have words and I kill him - Komedie
Phoebe’s alternate reality would have made a great dark/drama spin off show.

They should have, even the actors themselves were pushing for it, but the writers said no as it would have been to obvious and cliche for the three to end up together. Which you know if they were going that route should have simply just not put Rachel and Ross together again…..

I’m glad Joey and Phoebe didn’t get together or hook up. All 6 members of the group being ‘paired off’ would be boring IMO. Plus I like the fact that they had a strong platonic friendship. It’s perfectly possible for heterosexual men and women to be ‘just friends’, without becoming an item.
By the end of the show, Joey’s friendships with each of the women were better than the women’s friendships with each other. Rachel and even more so Phoebe were not good friends to Monica (she was better friends to both of them than vice versa - Rachel was selfish and Phoebe was an a-hole to her). Rachel and Phoebe’s friendship was good, but both of their friendships with Joey were better.
