@@matcha.addict4139 well that’s the point…there’s no way to objectively say when a run is “insane” or not, there are just some faster runs or more accurate runs but it doesn’t make this one less impressive to me. She’s working those runs and riffs over the repetitions in the familiar orchestral movement. If it was a more complex structure her runs and riffs would be different. She’s utilizing some of the runs and riffs from the original performance and just elaborating on some and filling in some empty spaces. What gets me is her light and free sound, her stable vibrato, and her generally floaty feeling of freedom. The purity in her tone even with her intentionally breathy (“Celtic”) production. I would love to hear Sohyang sing some Celtic / English classics.
how free she is doing all the this. keeping a stable vibrato even while going through different riffs and tone changes... it's like she's a electrical instrument, you can change a parameter without affecting other parameters. (changing volume or sound signature(tone) doesn't affect pitch or vibrato ) this is peak human level. but I'm sure she will upgrade even more next time we listen to her again.
That’s the thing. She doesn’t heap runs and riffs on top of themselves to show off. This is one of the most extemporaneous examples of runs I’ve seen from Sohyang and I’m pleased.
I remember seeing a video of So Hyang about 6 years ago showing her agility. Unbelievable! She barely used them in the past 5 years but she has it in her arsenal whenever she wants to show off. Now I think she just wants to use her voice for ministry only and not to impress too much.
This run is goood But as a star rated singers And when compare to other star singers like Beyoncé Mariah and Whitney Her runs are slow, unprecise and sloppy
@@ggjk2322 I don't know why everything with you guys has to be some backhanded compliment when it comes to Sohyang. Her agility is good, in fact it improved quite nicely in the past few years. That's it. See how easy it is?
@@ggjk2322 Different singers, different strengths. Sohyang is not a 100% soul singer. Being a church girl in Korea she didn’t come from being immersed in a Black Gospel and Soul/Blues/Jazz culture and all the vocal techniques of her greats of that culture that shaped most of the Black vocal music including the current heavyweights like Beyoncé, and others. CCM is strong in Sohyang’s background and it isn’t a runs-heavy vocal style (unlike Black Gospel). She’s a mix of her own influences so we understand what she’s capable of doing.
The run was insane

her agility and tone is improving and i think that's really exciting as she ages into a more toned down and newly cultivated performer
It's her runs era
Dang...that was so pleasing to hear
Absolutely beautiful. Effortless!!! Queen!!

These runs would come off as sloppy and tacky done by anyone else. She is so clean in the execution without losing emotion in expression.
