- What's involved in a head injury assessment in primary care? Most of the time you'll see mild injuries (luckily!) but how do you know if it's a concussion or something more serious?
How do you diagnose a concussion? And who needs imaging?
I got ya covered. In this video you'll learn:
- What symptoms to look for (and when to worry)
- What you should find (and shouldn't find) on your physical assessment
- The treatment and follow up care
- The best tools to help you assess symptoms and decide how to move forward

Please keep it the same! I love the case studies and have benefitted so much from listening to them. You walk through the steps great and are wonderful at breaking it down for students!
Glad you like them!
These 10 minute snapshots are awesome. I wish we had primary care snapshots like this in medical school. These are great for reviewing bread and butter topics! Don’t change a thing! You do you!

Please keep it the same. I am new to watching your videos and I have learned so much. I think the length is just fine.

Keep it the same! Perfect presentation!
Thanks, will do!
Hello! I absolutely love your videos and they are the ones I am watching the most of to prepare for my first NP job! So thank you! The only thing I would say, as you asked in your video to give feed-back, is to perhaps talk a little slower. I would rather have the video extended by a minute or so and be able to follow perhaps a little easier. But content wise- you are spot on and extremely helpful in real world practice!
Thank you! I just responded to another viewer with this: "Hi! I have been working for a while to slow down my speech. But here is a good hack - when you are watching on CZcams, look at the bottom right of the frame where you will find an icon that looks like a gear. Click on that, and you will see how you can slow down and speed up the video. Try that next time if you are having trouble with my speed - I will keep working on it!"
@@RealWorldNP thank you! I actually didn't know about how to change the speed.
Thank you for all the useful information! I will try to watch one of these a day until the day I become a real NP. That way it wont be as overwhelming. So please keep them all the same!!
Also, what would you do if the patient came thinking they had a concussion but really had a spinal cord injury? What happens next? You do your assessment and if an emergency send them out to the ER (And do you need to follow up for this?) and if not an emergency you refer them to a neurologist?? Please explain. Thank you
I am so glad you are finding these videos helpful! I hope they continue to be informative for you. I wish I could advise on your specific cases, but from a legal and safety standpoint, it's better if you consult directly with a preceptor, a supervisor, or someone else more familiar with the patient. Thanks for your understanding!
Love these! Bookmarks would be helpful :) Thank you for all that you do :)
We're working on it - especially for the older videos. Thanks!
