    I had my black 370Z ceramic coated with Opti-Coat Pro Plus about 6 weeks ago and have been doing maintenance hand washes every week with a product similar to ONR, but rinsing it off anyway. The car was looking good and had a good deep glossy finish but I decided to go with the recommended line of Opti-Coat maintenance products: M-Wash, Hyperseal and also their Optimum Quick Detailer as a LSP gloss enhancer. The difference in the level of gloss and the depth of the wetness was really significant. In touching the surface I could feel that the surface was quite a bit slicker. After two days, my car's finish has collected absolutely no dirt or dust and the level and depth of gloss appear undiminished from what it was just after I treated it. I've had several people at work who asked me where I'm taking my car to have it detailed, since it looks freshly washed and waxed every day.
    The reason that I'm mentioning this is that I came to the conclusion that these products by OPT were formulated to work best in maintaining their particular ceramic coatings, not that they would not also work well with other ceramic coatings. Optimum was upfront about this in their product descriptions but I was, as usual when it comes to commercial product claims, somewhat skeptical. My direct experience with their products has convinced me that they are being truthful in their claims, something that I do appreciate.

      Also, I've found that their paint protection products in general benefit when used with their polishes and panel wipe.
      Since switching to their polishes this past summer, their Opti-Seal which I had since 2016, and has never impressed with - now really looks great! Very happy with their line.
      Next spring I will be offering Opti-Coat as an option.

    Care is supposed to be used on top of sport or 9H. It's something you add to your existing coating after a few months

  • @SheasLuxuryDetailHonolulu

    Isn’t ceramic pro sport a coating? I think it says it’s marketed as a 1 year ceramic coating. I think a fair comparison would be CP Sport, SB3 Solo, and Opti Gloss Coat. Which all can be used to top off a coating...though OptiCoat Pro or Pro Plus requires non of that to maintain its warranty. The paint sealants vs. paint sealants is awesome. I would like to see a comparison of today’s paint sealant to an OG paint sealant....Klasse! Anybody remember that old boy? LOL That thing was super impressive and lasted hella long.

    There is nothing to remove when using Optimum Seal-products, you just very very gently level the high spots and leave to cure at least for a couple of hours. So no need to go over the panel and “remove” the product.

      Sherukka good point, I’ll be adding that to performance comparisons. Wet application vs dry application vs leveling and not leveling.

    I don’t understand what’s going on with the sheeting on the optimum products. That’s all I use and my applications don’t act like that. I’m assuming you used way too much and you probably wiped most of it off before it flashed. You don’t wife those products off. If you have too your using too much. 1 spray per panel and you used way too much

      Whoever installed that stuff earned that money.
      Imagine laying down super glue to your paint, and then trying to wipe off with microfiber towels. Once off it streaks and smears.
      I've never had a harder time with working with a detailing product.
      So, no. You probably owe the installer another 2k!
      I'd want $1,000 per panel.

  • @compamac
    @compamac Před 3 lety +1

    You really didn't apply Sport the correct way. While it can be applied straight onto the surface, Ceramic Pro training demonstrates the product being sprayed onto a damp microfiber towel so that it gives a vaseline look on the surface, then buff excess. Having gone through their training program I guess people do it differently, but the way you did it is wasting a lot of product.

    • @danlc95
      @danlc95 Před 2 lety

      Nick, is there a prescribed method for applying 9H?
      I found about four different tutorials, and they all had a different method of of application.
      Very confusing.
      The shop owner sent me the links, and they didn't work.
      My first car done with 9H was an absolute disaster.

    For even more economy, you can just soak the clay towel in ONR at the standing 256:1. This is what Yvan LaCroix does.

    • @ryanhendricks426
      @ryanhendricks426  Před 5 lety

      Yes! That's actually how we store our clay towel as it gets used all day every day. I prefer adding the more concentrated spray as it helps the towel to glide more smoothly and I don't have as much streak marks from the towel with the extra lubrication.

    What about these products makes them "ceramic"? I feel like polymer sealants and ceramics get interchanged often?

    • @ryanhendricks426
      @ryanhendricks426  Před 5 lety +2

      Great question! The difference between polymer sealants and "ceramic" products is the SiO2 content. Products with ceramic in them tend to have a more hydrophobic effect meaning the beads are much tighter and roll off at a lower angle. Products like Meguiar's Ceramic Wax contain both wax and ceramic particles. The unknown factor is the volume of ceramic as a percentage, but technically any product that advertises as ceramic must have at least some ceramic in it.

    • @LoveLikeaHurricane
      @LoveLikeaHurricane Před 4 lety

      @@jmichael99 then there is no point in opti seal, as the coating would perform as it "should".
      I have yet still seen any good performance from opti seal on youtube, just verbal claims that it performs x amount of months. Yet even when I watch apex detail, opti seal is terrible on his torture test.
      I'm still using up my bottle of opti seal for drying wheels. I also have a gallon of Optimum car wax. I would say I like the car wax better than the Opti Seal. However I love the performance of Turtle Wax Ice Seal and Shine.
      I was going to get my car opti coated, but the world wide lock down has put my plans to a halt.

      @@LoveLikeaHurricane I was all set to go all in on opti seal and car wax but decided to do a little more research and saw your comment. Does the seal and shine beat the opti seal on gloss as well as performance, or was it just the longevity that you liked more? Would you rather just have the TW over the Optimum products at this point?

    • @LoveLikeaHurricane
      @LoveLikeaHurricane Před 4 lety

      Greg Jones I would trust turtle wax ice seal and shine when it comes to the desert heat that I have here. I believe it even has some abrasion resistance as I have seen a post somewhere that showed a car hit some type of rubber hose which would normally scuff the paint, and the black marks of rubber just wiped right off. Besides having incredible chemical resistance per Apex detail tests. I saw a test with Opti seal where apex detail put a drop of paint on it after Opti seal gas cured. The paint was difficult to wipe off while the product it was put up against had an easier time wiping the Paint drop off. Apex detail also used the heat gun test and not many products survive that, but ice seal and shine does
      I would use turtle wax sealant only. Everything else optimum.
