    Hey, man, good news. My wife's church buds have started to let her down the last couple weeks, so I think I've talked her into letting me upgrade. I'm going to give her my KZ ES4s which sound pretty dang nice, but you've got me curious about these ZS10 Pros, so I think I'm gonna give them a go. Dude, budget or not, all the KZs I've had have been fantastic. I used to have a pair of $400 Westones, and pound for pound, these are just as good. This is coming from a church drummer who's been using in-ears for 28 years now. I'm sold for life on these KZs.

    I had used Shure se215 and they failed after one year use, so I start to use the KS ZS10 Pro.... and I noted a stupid absurdity difference. I also don’t know what they did with it but I 110% agree with you bro! They freaking nailed! Specially for drummers.
    I use an extension cable because I also have problems with the length of it, but it is not a big deal.
    I definitely recommend it! 😃👍

      Same for singers and Guitarists. KZ ZS10 Pro are the best budget IEMs on the market use sponge buds the isolation is great. A few people use DIY moulded ear plugs used for shooting and to make custom moulds. There is a how to video on CZcams if you search.

    Ever since I used it to my gigs and practices. It helped my ears to be safe from noise, I can get the tone of the drums.
    Some hidden ghost notes in the songs particularly even the background synths or backing tracks used in the song you can hear it so clearly and crisp. great video by The way ROB! :D

    Got the KZ ZS10 Pro a couple days ago. Aliexpress had a sale and I was able to score them for $25. One thing that people don't seem to understand and a drummer from another mother (Wade from Dankpods) said it best, good headphones will always be good headphones! The S10's sound great and so do the ZSN Pro X. It's funny to me that the general public buys a lot of name-brand earbuds all the while a world of far better sound for far less money is right there for them, but just like me (up until a year or so ago) are completely oblivious to it.

    Found out about KZ on a blog for budget headphones back around 2017/18… back then I grabbed the ZST’s, & for the price, with added 3rd party quality foam tips, nothing that I’ve tried can touch the performance for price value! Great to see another drummer realizing the value in the KZ phones. Thanks for all the great content Rob!

    Glad I viewed your video last year regarding in-ear monitors. Thought I could never afford it. However, the KZs ZS10 PROs are incredible for the buck no doubt. During my practice I use a high end headphones which is okay. But I did notice I would have to crank up the volume on the brain to my Roland edrums to get a decent sound. But just recently I finally chance paying $50. bucks for a KZ in-ear monitor and I was totally blown away! Being I was using my regular headphones with the volume near max, I had to turn it down because the KZs picked up everything with so much clarity! So there was no need having the Roland module volume set so loud. So from a volume level of 19 it came down to 8 still having pure clarity with the highs and the lows. With highs, mids and bottoms I could hear my ghost notes very well along with everything else - bass drum, toms, cymbals and snare. I can now concentrate on all the details of my playing making my practice worth the time and improvements. Yep, I would have to agree with you that you the one on in-ear monitor research. Saved a ton and something I really needed. Thanks!

    I bought the KZ ZS10s because of Rob's recommendation. They are cheap and "ok for that price". Its bulky, after a while the ear tips wear off, so it will start to slip out. I've used for about a year, definitely dont recommend it for heavy duty, everyday use. I recently bought the MEE Audio Pro6, and it sounds so much more clearer than ZS10s. It is an upgrade from the ZS10 Pro. I would definitely cough up more money for them. The Pro6 fits in the ear nicely and isn't bulky. My mate bought a Tin Audio T2 and the sound quality just blows my mind away. If there are any IEMs you are considering to get, besides the KZs, it would be these 2. But this video is about budget IEMs.

    I bought a pair of the ZST’s based solely on your review. The sound is perfect for what I need them for how I gig, and you hit it right on the head about fit and price.
    I did improve the fit and isolation by adding some Sugru to make a custom mold of my ear. This, combined with the smallest rubber plug (like you, I have little real estate), it made them 100%.
    I’ll look into the Pro’s as I would like better balance overall when I’m not using a mixer (like for practice).
    Thanks for this great overall shootout review. Seems I’ll be getting another set (and a third piece of Beatdown merch) before the holiday.🤘🏻🤘🏻

    • @Rockin_Ross
      @Rockin_Ross Před 4 lety +1

      jhawkdrums: Make two small snakes from one package. Coil it around the earplug and insert into your ear.
      Press the Sugru into the folds and crevices around your canal until it feels right and the outside sound is mostly gone.
      Wear them for about 20 minutes, then carefully take out. Hang them up so the plugs are free from touching anything. Let it set overnight and by morning, you’ll have custom molded in-ears!

      How does it's works whith eletronic drum kit ?

    • @davidshaw4574
      @davidshaw4574 Před 4 lety +2

      @@josefreitasjunior5380 Any of the KZ's will work just great with Electronic kit (same as any in ears) - For me I try to avoid cranking the volume when practicing on an ekit , so I use Shure's in combination with some ear defender (shooting range style) headphones over the top. The low profile of the Shure's allows for ear defenders to sit comfortably over the top. The KZ's jut out a little from the ear and create some pressure when putting ear defenders over the top. I was told bone conduction makes the isolation worse doing this but I've found I've got better isolation with this method both on acoustic and electric setups. (Great for mic placement+tuning if you are working on your own) This method stops the acoustic plastic tapping sound of the cymbal pads being audible at low listening volumes. Please note: I am in the minority with this and most users love using in ears as they are with no additional headphones over the top. The headphones over the top looks a little goofy (unless you can rock the look!...) I can't, so for gigs I'll reach for customs/universals with admittedly louder monitoring levels... Hope this helps

  • @TommyD1021
    @TommyD1021 Před 4 lety

    I have the ZS-10 Pros and the AS10's. I prefer the AS10's for their more neutral sound, especially when drumming. The boomy bass and bright highs of the ZS-10 Pro's are too fatiguing for me when I turn them up. I also think the AS-10's are a bit more comfortable with their 5mm ear tip vs the 6mm ear tip of the ZS-10 Pro. I guess I have tiny ear canals that still get sore after almost 9 months of using the ZS-10's. So my ZS-10 Pros are for every day listening to music at normal volume levels and the AS-10's are for slightly louder volume listening and drumming. They just are more comfortable in this scenario. Isolation is good on the AS10 as well.

    Always dig your stuff, Rob. So...does your vid take into account drummers who SING? (yeah, I'm a Phil Collins/Don Henley/Levon Helm wanna be). Getting a good overall monitor is one thing, but hearing your vox is another. Maybe that's just a mix thing from the board. Thoughts?

    ok so ,, ive been drumming now for just over a year. I am playing a gig with a band in two days ,,we met , jammed twice and they gave me four weeks to get down 33 songs as we are the only band playing. as you can see i may be a bit ,, concerned hahaha ,, so my question is ,, are in ears A bluetooth , and B what exactly do you use them for ? for listening to songs while you practice or for drumsets that are mic'd ? sorry to be ignorant about the usage but if they are something i could use to help me get through a set,, or three in this case at a gig that would be great . i use ' ear buds ' from walmart to practice with but the blue tooth set i have produce a delay while i watch your lessons and try to follow along so i revert to the wired ones which get in the way constantly . proud patreon of your channel and when i come back to my hometown of t dot to open my new tattoo shop next year , ill be coming to a show of yours if i can . thank you for all of your great videos Beatdown i dig em all !

      So, in ear monitors to my knowledge can be bluetooth, but theres no way to use them as bluetooth in a live gig setting, what you want to use In ears for is exactly what the name suggests, monitoring, so instead of using a floor wedge like you would normally see as part of a sound system, you can buy a small mixer, I suggest the behringer xynyx 802, that way you can unplug that floor wedge, and plug it into the mixer, and from there plug your in ear monitors into the headphone jack of your mixer, this in alot of situations will just allow you to hear a more direct mix of all the other instruments on stage, as far as your gig, i've been playing in cover bands for a long time and can tell you, the only thing thats going to get you through that gig is knowing the material, get back behind your kit and drill the songs, play through all 33 songs every day/chance you get, don't repeat songs, just play through the entire list start to finish and keep doing it, when the gig comes your muscle memory will kick in and things will become familiar.

If you have any helpers it would be greatly appreciated.

      Cameron Hairston A large part of the fun with learning a new sticking is experimentation. You’ve got accents and ghost notes. Just separate the hands and start moving them around the kit.

    Hi Rob. Which KZ's are best for adding back some ambient sound on stage? I love my KZT's but they isolate too much. As a singing drummer, only my vocals are in my mix so I don't push too hard and wear out my vocal chords. The gear my band uses doesn't allow me to add other instruments or backing vocals into my mix. So I need to hear some ambient sounds on stage. Thanks in advance!
