Hiking the Convict Lake Loop: Sierra Nevada Mountains (Inyo National Forest), Mammoth Lakes, CA.
The loop hike of Convict Lake is easily completed by most anybody who wants to try it. Meanwhile, it has some of the nicest scenery available in the Eastern Sierras (which is really saying something). To avoid parking fees (and since you are hiking anyway), the best course of action is to park in the Trailhead Parking Lot. It is a lonely outpost at the start, but it is a quick hike to reach the loop hiking trail.
