And in Lehnda Punjab it's opposite. It's the women who are ashamed of their language and teach their children Urdu instead of Punjabi. But I'm not one of them. I proudly speak Punjabi with my daughter. Actually I prefer Punjabi everywhere I go.

I don't think Indian punjabis are too far from this. Try speaking to Punjabi to the kids in a east punjabi city you will see it
I never felt embarassed speaking Punjabi...Last 8-9 years I've spoken Punjabi 80% of the times, even people from other states understood my Punjabi and replied in Hindi 😊 When I started working in an Australian firm, I told them that I'm more comfortable speaking Punjabi. Gradually, we started getting clients who speak Punjabi only and choose us because they're more comfortable with us and there's no language barrier. 😏 So, we can speak Punjabi everywhere in the World. I went to Meghalaya this April and the tribal travel guide in a sacred forest was aware of few words of Punjabi language. I felt so proud 😁

ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧੀਅਾ ਭਾਈ । ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੁਜ ਟਾਈਮ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਦੁਬਾਈ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ, ਪੇਹਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਪਕਿਸਤਨੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਰਵਾ ਨੂ ਮਿਲਨ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਮਿਲੇਅਾ। ਜੋ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸੀ । ਖਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਿਅਲਕੋਟ ਤੋ ਸੀ । ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲਗਾ ਜੇਵੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਏ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਹੋਣ। ਅਸੀ ਕੁਜ ਟਾਈਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੇਹੇ ।ਇਕਠੇ ਖਾਧਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧੀਅਾ ਟਾਈਮ ਗੁਜਰਿਅਾ । ਇਸ ਤੋ ਬਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਕਿਸਤਨੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਰ ਓਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਕਦੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ, ਭਰਾਵਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਾ ਮਹਸੂਸ ਹੀ ਨੇਹੀ ਹੋਅਾ। ਮੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹਰਨ ਸੀ ਇਦ ਕਿਵੇ ਓਹ ਕੇਦੇ ਤਾ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਨੂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਸੀ । ਉਰਦੂ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸੀ । ਪਕਿਸਤਨੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸੀ, ਸ਼ੀਹਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਤਾ ਉਰਦੂ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸੀ । ਆਪ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਨੂ ਪਿਹਲਾ ਪਕਿਸਤਨੀ ਹੀ ਦਸ ਦੇ ਸੀ । ਮੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਆਬੇ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦਾ ਹਾ । ਅਸੀ ਲੋਕ ਪਕਿਸਤਨੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਤੋ ਬਾਬਾ ਬੁਲੇਸ਼ਹ, ਬਾਬਾ ਫਰੀਦ ਹੋਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੋਫੀ ਫਕੀਰ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਤੇ ਪੈਰੋਕਾਰ ਨੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਣਨਾ ਚਹੁਦੇ ਹਾ । ਇਸ ਤੋ ਅਸੀ ਵਖ ਹੋ ਗੇ ਸੀ । ਪਕਿਸਤਨ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਡਰਾਮੇ ਤਾ youtube ਤੇ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਨੇ ਪਰ ਸੋਫੀ ਸੰਤ ਨੇਹੀ। ਜਿਨਾ ਨੂ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਗੇਹ ਰਹੀ ਤੋ ਪਿਅਾਰ ਤੇ ਸਤ ਕਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਨੇ। ਚਾਹੀਏ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਓਹ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਹੋਣ ਜਾ ਸਿੱਖ । ਪਿਅਾਰ ਕਦੇ ਨੇ। ਪਕਿਸਤਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਖਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਸੁੱਫੀ ਪੀਰ ਫਕੀਰ ਨੂ ਵੀ ਲਗਦਾ ਭੁਲ ਗੇਏ ਨੇ। ਓਹ ਸਬ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਤੇ ਸੀ । ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਖ ਹੁਨ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਗਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ।
The people you mentioned, Bulleh Shah and others, we're all Farsi speakers. Or at least their patents or grandparents were Farsi speakers.

I was not allowed to speak Punjabi in my school. Even it's off time we were not allowed to speak Punjabi. Only Urdu and English. Thats why I hesitate while speaking Punjabi
Whenever i visit lehda or charda punjab going to any restaurant or shops I speak Punjabi only even they answer in hindi/urdu i still speak Punjabi, it their problem to understand.
