Before 1905, the Golden Temple had Brahmin priests,hindu deities idols and images for at least a century, attracting pious Sikhs and Hindus. In 1890s, these idols and practices came under attack from some radical Sikhs. In 1905, with the campaign of the Tat Khalsa, these idols and images were removed from the Golden Temple.(HARI-MANDIR....Hari means Vishnu...). Guru Granth Sahib is full of verses with names of Lord Ram and Govind ( Krishna ) . I adore and revere Guru Gobind Singh Ji from the core of my mind, heart, and soul. I just now subscribed to YT Premium so that I can hear this fantastic podcast without any disrupting ads. So far I've watched only a few minutes of it but I am already in awe of Sarbpreet Singh ji and love him. He is the real deal, as they say in America; not just another scholar/historian. I am a Punjabi Brahmin, and still alive despite Aurangjeb's vow of killing off all of us. This was possible only because Guru Gobind Singh Ji became our savior! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I don't usually comment but this is first in a history I'm a student of Punjab university Lahore. Recently there was a 3 day country largest book fair and among the lac of books I selected the book of Tareekh e Punjab written by kunhaia Lal and composed by Hafiz gohar. Last night I completely read about 10 gurus and today I am watching this podcast 😮
Earlier this month visited Patna sahib gurudwara .. Gobind Singh ji ‘s birth place .. it was fabulous … with the river Ganges flowing peacefully and on its bank the several gurudwara‘s where he lived, played, ate and was nurtured in his early childhood ..!!!

Thank you so much for this podcast..a small addition ..During the year 1663, when Guru Har Krishan Sahib were in Delhi, an epidemic of cholera and smallpox broke out. The seven year old Guru attended to and served the suffering people with complete devotion. By his grace, the lake at Bangla Sahib provided a cure for thousands of peoples. In the process of serving the diseased, the Guru was himself seized by high fever and an attack of smallpox, eventually passing away on 30th March 1664, aged just eight years. The Guru wished that nobody mourn his death, rather instructing the Sikhs to sing hyms from the Gurbani. The Tenth Nanak, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib, later paid tribute to Guru Har Krishan Sahib by stating "Guru Sri Harkrishan Dhiyaiai Jis Dithe Sab Dukh Jaaye" which translates to "Let us think of the holy Har Krishan,whose sight dispels all sorrow", which forms a part of the daily Sikh prayer Ardas.🙏

I am from a brahmin punjabi family, and i believe in sikh religion more than hindu. However, I don't doubt any religion, but i feel strong connection with sikhism. I have completed both of the podcasts and really got goosebumps. I have made notes out of it and will share the sikh history with my friends and family for sure.

When ever i go to gurdwara, as i reach the entrance to darbar sahib, even though SGGS ji when we see it looks like a book but what i see is Guru Gobind Singh Ji sitting on his throne and when i matha take, i am bowing down on his feet's and feel blessed that I'm getting this chance to do his darshan. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Once again, it was amazing! I can listen to sarbjeet sir for hours and i dont even have to stop doing what im doing.. everything still registers, he's that great of a story teller .. and a great motivation on how to be grounded, humble and polite at all times ...! Its just sad we have forgotten the sarcifices they did so that we can breathe in fresh air .. even if we do not want to follow strict practices , the least we can do is remember what they've given up to impart values to us and atleast hold on and pass on those values to others.. people ask me why do i get restless and irritated when someone is being mistreated, im like cant help, its in DNA by now.. trust me its very very hard to move away and not help if u ever see a sikh not coming up to help.. most likely u wont but in case cz not always you have that mental bandwidth or capacity.. anyway, thanks ranveer for bringing such wealth of knowledge yet again right at our doorstep!🙏😇

Countless time thanks for this podcast .I was eagerly waiting for this from many days .Thanks a lot respected brother for this podcast I was always worried for this that how will tell to my children about sukhissam without books because I myself from Patna sahib I knew about sikhissam but now my children I have to make them understand that our 10 gurus how much sacrifice they have given it's unbelievable they could do anything but after sitting on fire also sri guru arjun dev jee maharaaj said tera kiya meetha laage I couldn't understand that can't people understand that any normal person can do this after that people couldn't see thus also that bhai mani jee whole family bhai taru singh jee bhai deyala jee countless more Sikhs had given sacrifice they were not gurus but they followed our ten gurus it's really very very very unbearable how they were punished by mughals but then also our normal Sikhs who ere not gurus they said you do your work we are in meditation really miracle. By your this podcast children will be able to know about sikhissam. Although it’s an 2.5 hours podcast, I wanted to go in depth of all the stories. I knew a few of them and felt we lost a lot of context without knowing that just because we were covering them in short. It was such a valuable piece of content. I adore and revere Guru Gobind Singh Ji from the core of my mind, heart, and soul. I just now subscribed to YT Premium so that I can hear this fantastic podcast without any disrupting ads. So far I've watched only a few minutes of it but I am already in awe of Sarbpreet Singh ji and love him. He is the real deal, as they say in America; not just another scholar/historian. Thank you so much for this podcast..a small addition ..During the year 1663, when Guru Har Krishan Sahib were in Delhi, an epidemic of cholera and smallpox broke out. The seven year old Guru attended to and served the suffering people with complete devotion. By his grace, the lake at Bangla Sahib provided a cure for
thousands of peoples. In the process of serving the diseased, the Guru was
himself seized by high fever and an attack of smallpox, eventually passing away on 30th March 1664, aged just eight years. The Guru wished that nobody mourn his death, rather instructing the Sikhs to sing hyms from the Gurbani. The Tenth Nanak, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib, later paid tribute to Guru Har Krishan Sahib by stating "Guru Sri Harkrishan Dhiyaiai Jis Dithe Sab Dukh Jaaye" which translates to "Let us think of the holy Har Krishan,whose sight dispels all sorrow", which forms a part of the daily Sikh prayer Ardas.🙏

I am from a brahmin punjabi family, and i believe in sikh religion more than hindu. However, I don't doubt any religion, but i feel strong connection with sikhism. I have completed both of the podcasts and really got goosebumps. I have made notes out of it and will share the sikh history with my friends and family for sure.

When ever i go to gurdwara, as i reach the entrance to darbar sahib, even though SGGS ji when we see it looks like a book but what i see is Guru Gobind Singh Ji sitting on his throne and when i matha take, i am bowing down on his feet's and feel blessed that I'm getting this chance to do his darshan. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Once again, it was amazing! I can listen to sarbjeet sir for hours and i dont even have to stop doing what im doing.. everything still registers, he's that great of a story teller .. and a great motivation on how to be grounded, humble and polite at all times ...! Its just sad we have forgotten the sarcifices they did so that we can breathe in fresh air .. even if we do not want to follow strict practices , the least we can do is remember what they've given up to impart values to us and atleast hold on and pass on those values to others.. people ask me why do i get restless and irritated when someone is being mistreated, im like cant help, its in DNA by now.. trust me its very very hard to move away and not help if u ever see a sikh not coming up to help.. most likely u wont but in case cz not always you have that mental bandwidth or capacity.. anyway, thanks ranveer for bringing such wealth of knowledge yet again right at our doorstep!🙏😇
I really liked this podcasts and felt it completely resonated with me. I have a question, do Sikhs meditate like jaapa and antar jyoti & shabad,etc because Guru Nanakji wrote extensively about it. Is this knowledge lost or still prevalent?

5) the process of mantra japa in sikhism such as the mool mantra (which was originally given by guru nanak dev ji but was recorded in guru granth sahib on the recommendation of baba sri chand ji whom i mentioned earlier) also put some light on how gurditta ji became the second prominent leader of udasi samudaye

Countless time thanks for this podcast .I was eagerly waiting for this from many days .Thanks a lot respected brother for this podcast I was always worried for this that how will tell to my children about sukhissam without books because I myself from Patna sahib I knew about sikhissam but now my children I have to make them understand that our 10 gurus how much sacrifice they have given it's unbelievable they could do anything but after sitting on fire also sri guru arjun dev jee maharaaj said tera kiya meetha laage I couldn't understand that can't people understand that any normal person can do this after that people couldn't see thus also that bhai mani jee whole family bhai taru singh jee bhai deyala jee countless more Sikhs had given sacrifice they were not gurus but they followed our ten gurus it's really very very very unbearable how they were punished by mughals but then also our normal Sikhs who ere not gurus they said you do your work we are in meditation really miracle. By your this podcast children will be able to know about sikhissam. Thanks is not enough but respected brother I can give thanks only and of course stay blessed our respected brother for this podcast.

Although it’s an 2.5 hours podcast, I wanted to go in depth of all the stories. I knew a few of them and felt we lost a lot of context without knowing that just because we were covering them in short.
It was such a valuable piece of content. I loved the narration specifically quoting the specific lines and giving information from historical accounts without adding their interpretation which in usually case might get tainted.

A little memory, when I was 5-8 years old my mum would play the cassette about guru sahib for me to learn and I remember breaking down in tears listening to this shabad. Which I do to this date. Always feel it’s happening to my father. Which is true spiritually.

Guru sahib kya kuch nhi kar sakte the lekin unhone parmatma ka hukam kaise manna hai wo sikhane ke liye khud practically karke dikhaya shahadat di. Guru sahib par na koi dukh ka asar hota tha na sukh ka. Jab 6th guru ke bete baba atal rai ji 9 saal ki umar mein sachkhand chale gye ton guru sahib ne kaha jis waheguru ne amanat di thi wo wapis le gya. Jo professor sahib hai unko gyan ton hai sikh dharm ke bare mein lekin shabdo ki chon sahi nhi hai guru sahib ke liye. Wo marwaya, chal base, guzar gye aise shabd istemaal kar rhe hai. I visit golden temple every year and this time when I entered the gate, my eyes were full of tears for straight 10 minutes after seeing its beauty. The beauty of golden temple especially at night is INEXPRESSIBLE. TOTALLY INEXPRESSIBLE
