Damn Gigabyte, asking 699 for the Tachyon X is ballsy. I believe when the Z690 Tachyon launched it was 400 and some change. Hard pass for me at that price point.
yeah z690 tachyon was much cheaper and went on sale all the time, same for the MSI unify x.
Given Gigabyte's snake-oil on their other "X" boards (crap QVLs and such) , I'm happy to say that Ive had a profoundly different experience where the "Z790 Tachyon X vs the Z790 non-X Tachyon" is concerned (As I have owned both). The "X" has been my daily driver -10 hours a day for just over a couple of weeks now. G.Skill's 2x16 8000 kit was XMP "Karhu stable" right out of the box with no tweaks what so ever (tested with 15 tabs up and multiple programs running) and now at 8200, its still rock solid in identical environments (as my "non X z790 Tachyon, and I mean identical Same CPU-Loop-PSU-Case...etc...etc.) The X is slightly more premium... PCIE reinforcements on the back of the board (x16/5.0 slot) as where the last gen did not. They must have gotten something right because my last "non X" Tachyon's XMPs were wonky as hell. In short, I have found significant bandwidth increases with the "X" pound for pound (vs the non X/first Gen z790 Tachyon) running identical CPUs and Identical sticks.
Per your statement "asking 699 for the Tachyon X is ballsy"... I agree, but it was worth every penny in my case.
...And spoken kindly, I'm not selling anything, nor is this an attempted slap at Jufes (I'm sure hes forgotten more than I will ever know in this arena) .... I'm just very passionate about the things I throw myself into. I as a day trader and a gamer, I spend a LOT of time on my rig and it has to be Top-Notch (my sh*ts pretty nice).
...Just sharing my personal experience regarding the topic at hand.
@@petefckingnegwaski1060 as someone who has a z790 Master which turned into the X variant because I was still in return to Amazon timeframe and they dropped X down to withint $15 of the non-X, the Master X is also better and more... refined? than the non-x Master.
Most of their non-X z790 lineup feels somewhat beta or at least release candidate vs the X versions.
That said, the power delivered on their Pro X's is a crime (z690 Pro/Ultra were much better, maybe too much vs z690 Master). But i mean, the Pro's now ahve 8x8? I guess they wanted to sell more Masters this gen! kek

i disagree the tachyon isn't as cheap as it was for z690 and also went on sale frequently true but 4 dimm motherboards shouldn't be the standard anymore. when it comes to overclocking especially ram and just hitting 8000+ given your 13/14th gen CPUs memory controller can do it the nova isn't even in the same category as the tachyon

Been out of the scene for a while. What are the best 2 dimm/atx boards available right now?
the Apex. period. I'd argue it just is the best board for overclocking has been most generations at number 1 and if in not mistaken more oc world records on that board than any of the others (that said the MSI unfy x and tachyon are still excellent oc board the evga dark kingpin as well but evga is done making motherboards) for CPU and ram records which it holds both rn and its cheaper the PCB is better like no other z790 boards should exist. also and idk why but MSI hasn't released a unify x since 12th gen so unless you bought a dark when they were in stock the apex and tachyon are the only option's for 2 dimm enthusiast ocing dedicated boards.
Do you even get any noticeable gains on a 600$ board over a 250$ one. Like how much difference are you gaining at 8000mt vs 6400mt running the same cas?
12-20fps increase in 1% lows I assume for more memory intensive workloads that aren’t just gaming it’s much more noticeable
If you overclock, the higher end boards give you a better overclock for a few hundred mhz, it just depends on your memory controller in your CPU and how good of a lotto you hit with your ram chip quality wise
6400 well tuned primary/secondary/tertiary timings will be faster then 8000 basic xmp settings. Plus you can run that speed easy on z790 4 dimm boards.

I cannot trust Gigabyte anymore, their cracking GPUs blaming customers, their exploding PSU, their crappy monitors, they are THE customer support IN MY opinion is also bad from past experience .... I would never buy their motherboard. Rather save up more for a quality Asus, EVGA board

Adding an ARC GPU alongside a 4090 is not going to give you what the iGPU will give. Remember the PCIE lanes are limited.

Hi. I love your complaining about companies and ddr5. I have already processed 7 pieces of 14900K + Apex Encore, Dark Hero and 2 pieces of Aorus Master X. What irritates me is that you don't show the voltages for 7800 and 8000 when it's already working stably. Could you add the voltages from this Gigabyte to all under 7800 or 8000?
I've got the apex encore. im sure if you run 2 graphics cards, they go to 8x from 16

Not a fan of Gigabyte at all. One of their PSU’s blew on me and just last week one of their 4090’s went bad. I’m done with them.
