I've made 3 of these. One for work, one for home and one in my daughter's high school colors for her fencing shoes 😊. The only thing I changed is that I stitch a line down the center front. That way, I have 4 pockets instead 2 big ones. It turned out perfect. 1 pocket for a water bottle, 1 for her fencing glove, 1 for energy bars/snacks and 1 for her phone/charger and the main part for her shoes. The bag is roomy enough for her shoes and an extra hoodie and sport pants. So glad I found your tutorial. I have gotten so many compliments when I take it to work.

I've made these before but never with the cute pocket. I made them with a group of 13-14 year old girls. We used 72 inch shoestrings for the ties. They are also fun to make with orphan blocks. Can't wait to try one with the pocket.

Thank you for the great video and pattern. I just made one for my grandson, but kept the outside fabrics the same and only accented it with the lining fabric on the top and tabs. Hope he likes it. The little tool is called a bodkin (Amazon).
I love making this bag. Made two more today. I added Kam snaps on the front to close up the front a bit. They are for little children and I was afraid they would put something smaller in the front and it would drop out. However, the pattern as is doesn't really need it.

Love this pattern. Made 2 in one day. I used cotton clothesline for the cord. Much cheaper than cord from fabric store. Made both from my stash.
