You can skip the first loop-the-loop by taking a slight ramp off the right side of the loop. It saves about .5 secs, although you lose a bit of speed in the run up to the next loop-the-loop.

I do not have a favorite car. X80, Nero, RE-7B, each one of them is good for specific tracks.
