  • I take the top cover off my ATS-25. I am quite suprised by what lies within! There is quite a lot of fresh air in there too!!

It would be interesting to know what would happen if you put another battery in there.

Looks like it will be easy to put a metal shield between the screen board and the main board to see if you can reduce the screen noise problem! Thanks for this informative and enjoyable video!!!!!!

By pressing the tuning knob, touch screen is desactived and noise suppressed. Simply add a toggle switch on the rear.Olivier.

I received my radio yesterday. My tuner works "backwards" as the channels go "down" when I turn the encoder to the right. Maybe ribbon is twisted? Does ribbon cable pull out of the black part....or does the complete black piece come off?

The ribbon cable should pull out just do it gently

I am having the same problem with mine, received yesterday. (Rev. 3.1) Did you manage to solve the problem?

@@davidpratt4009 I haven't messed with it in a while. I hear you can change it in software by changing a value. I've seen here people have upgraded the tuner in the previous model...and it tune backwards - so he disconnected the 2 outer wires on the decoder (tuner) and using wires to criss cross the connections. Hook top left to bottom right connection and top right to bottom left connection. I will probably do the wire swap....unless I decide to sit down and get the software thing figured out. I've got the proper setting told to me from a Facebook group. I just have to go back and look that up.

@@xraycam3709 I have succeeded in getting mine to tune the right way round...
I desoldered and carefully eased out the outer two encoder pins (A & B) at the bottom of the encoder PCB. Then soldered two thin wires so that A & B were crossed over. I did it in such a way that I could change them back if needed or if a future software upgrade requires it. I am much happier now!

I tried unsoldering outer left and outer right pins *not center pin....and soldering a small jumpers across. This would be A and B connections? Mine didn't work - I must add ALSO that desoldering pins can cause them to unmount themselves from the encoder and hang by their wires. I ended up just switching the encoder out of my other radio that had older software. Whoever is building some of these radios on eBay is using incorrect encoder (tuner) because other one swapped out fine and is in correct direction....right turn goes up in frequency.

It looks like there's a few places on the boards (solder points) to add internal shielding that they just didn't add. I bet that if you add that shielding to the boards that RFI will be reduced. It would probably help by adding some kind of ferrite to the ribbon cable leading from the front board to the rear would help as well, ribbon cable definitely isn't that good at rejecting any internal RFI.

I just opened mine up, they used the battery connector instead of soldering the battery to the board, the boards in mine seem to lack the trace around the outside of the board and pads to put a shielding in place, the battery in mine is more forward instead of partially being under the rear board. The rear board in mine doesn't seem to be soldered to the rear plate so only the antenna nut is holding the rear board to the rear plate.
The rear board in mine also doesn't have that unpopulated spot to the right ribbon cable to the front board.
