- Your position into a jump affects the way the horse goes. Often a rider's horses all go the same way and that's because the way you sit, has an impact on the horse. If you sit with your leg stuck forward you are more likely to be driving with your hip angle and the horse will lift it's head and run. If you lean on the neck with your hands, your horse is more likely to go on the forehand and brace down into the contact. It is a great video to make you analyze how you are sitting and ensure you aren't the underlying cause of an issue with your horse.
Together with TeQ clothing, I am bringing you a great deal on the TeQ tights that I am seen wearing in this set of videos. The tights are super comfortable and the material on the inside thigh and leg really helps when you're trying to sit to the trot, sit a buck, or trying to stay connected when jumping. Buy the tights and get a belt for only $10.00 NZD.

Thanks 🙏🏻 great tips
Your videos are awesome and most informative
Awesome thanks
What can u do of your horse just stops after the jump the puts their head down and bronks going into and out of the jump
I really needed this video right now. I've been balancing too far forward and getting in the horse's way. I'd love more videos on two-point, especially how to get up into it without pulling yourself forward or how to fix that. The way I was taught as a child doesn't suit my larger adult body as well lol
As above comments. Especially in regards to a horse that’s very much on the forehand. They really pull you forward...
@@GiorgioTaylor Yes, but it's really my fault. He loves jumping and wants to go forward but because my position is weak I get out of balance and I'M on his forehand. This video really reminded me that I need to make sure I'm not getting in his way. As much as I would want to correct him being heavy on the forehand, I need to make sure I'M not the one causing it. Really have to work on my position and do my part!
Hey Bookmouse, have you watched this other video on improving your jumping position czcams.com/video/79qv9w6tqss/video.html
Yes Kimberley and it means you have to be so strong in your core not too be pulled over your central point of balance. It's a killer on your back too.And people say horse riders just sit on the horse and the horse does all the work lol
@@KirstinKellyEquestrian Thanks for the refresher--I always forget to keep my chin up and it helps so much when I do. Can't wait to practice next week!
Super helpful video as always! Something my horse does that I've never really heard about much Is she tucks her head in behind the vertical when going over a jump. Im not sure if it's anything to worry about but she's the only horse I've known to do it and it's important for a horse to stretch their head out over a jump. Do you have any ideas on what could be causing it or is it not a concern?
Great to hear your enjoying the videos. I have seen a few horses do this. If your hands are soft and she is still doing it, I'd say she possibly learnt to jump this way when she was started, or that she is a little tight over her topline which stops her releasing her nose forward. If she is jumping clean and relaxed behind over the oxers, I wouldn't worry about it. The next video is on improving your release over the fence so keep an eye open for that.
Happy Riding

@@KirstinKellyEquestrian thank you! She does have some stiffness along her back which could be causing it, but we do get the chiropractor out quite regularly so hopefully she will get better overtime. We don't have too much history of her but from what we know she has always jumped like this, but im glad it isn't of too much concern :)
Love your videos, what kind of breastplate is that on the palomino?
Thanks, glad your enjoying them. I think its just a hunting 3 point breastplate.
