Since 1962, The Dubliners have been enthralling audiences worldwide with their music and song. The strength and attractiveness of The Dubliners has always been in the personalities of the musicians who have made up this boisterous band of balladeers, from original members, Ronnie Drew, Barney McKenna, Luke Kelly, Ciarán Bourke, John Sheahan and Bob Lynch to the arrival at different stages of Jim McCann, Seán Cannon, Eamonn Campbell and finally the peerless Paddy Reilly.

I went backstage to meet them, during their farewell tour, when they visited Llandudno in North Wales.
That's an occasion you will never forget, they all signed my cd, and were so hospitable, so so friendly, it was a magical experience, talking and meeting musicians you really admired.

I’ve been a fan of the Metallica and thin lizzy versions of this song for twenty years and just today did I discover this was a traditional Irish tune in its origin.
This song is slurred together into one long word and I love it!

You are sooo lucky man ! I discovered them not so long ago, and I'm literally in love. I can't stop to listen them. I would pay A LOT to be able to see them alive (especially Sean Cannon). But I guess I was not born at the right time .. I'm often too late for my favorite bands / artists. =(
@@Jimm119 they will live on in our hearts! BUT: look out for "The Dublin Legends", the follow up of the Dubliners, cosisting of Sean Cannon, Gerry O’Connor, Paul Watchorn & Shay Kavanagh. So, you can see Sean alive ^^ and they are playing all the old songs =)

I am ashamed but SO happy at the same time. I searched for Sean Cannon on Google. I saw a date that ended in 2012. I tought he was .. but no, it's only the end of The Dubliners. Sir, you have no idea how much big is my joy right now. I'm planning a travel to Ireland / England for the next year, hoping it will not be to late, and that the pandemic let me travel there .. Thanks man ! Thanks a lot. Really. I will take a sip in this travel for you =)

I have loved this song from the FIRST time I heard Thin Lizzy doing it in the '70's.. Somehow I KNEW it was a 'version' of a more classic Irish song.... Just goes to prove, ya don't have to BE Irish, to enjoy a classic Irish song!!!.... And yes, I enjoy the hell out of this song, all THREE 'popular' versions..

I'm Finnish and I love how the Irish deal with the language. Very comprehensible, likable and good. For pretty much any Irish person English is only second language, even if its their mothertongue in books. Maybe I'm exaggerating but I mean well. For us Finns, English is the third. And we both love potatoes too

@THE WHIRLWIND try Jameson Irish whiskey that stuff you should be able to drink straight it’s not that strong is Jack Daniels is it is helluva lot less harsh but it is at the same proof 80%
