    I am also in Upstate NY, also zone 6a, and for me, mid-Summer is too late to apply fungicide. By early July some of my tomatoes leaves already have many yellow spots or start turning yellow if I do nothing, especially with the last three Summers being so hot and humid, with many rains. Mid-June or even earlier is the right time to apply fungicides in our zone I think.

    Just want to add that this product is best applied on a non-windy day wearing safety goggles, dust mask and gloves like the ones you are wearing… additionally the product should be used in a pressure duster or applied by pressing on the outside of the container allowing a small mist of dust to flow out the top onto the plant… the application of the product is suggested on the container… there is no instruction to sprinkle the product on the plant…

    Thanks, never saw anyone suggest this before.

    It's important to apply the copper fungicide over AND under the leaves. Doesn't do any good on the ground! Should use the liquid product!

    i see you put it on the ground too but it rains every week if not every day here and i will get tired of applying it on the leaves i need maybe i need to learn how to grow them in a giant glass bottle. I thought make a chicken wire bench 2 or 3 foot off the floor grow in pot next to it and let it lay over onto chikn wire and grow along that like a bed. can grow somewhere where there is lots of concrete then and be lazy insted of staking or string and no pruning too.

    Why don't you like the liquid copper?

    • @harvestinghistoryllc3161
      @harvestinghistoryllc3161  Před 4 lety +9

      Charles, it doesn't seem to work as effectively, and I don't know why. It may be that when it rains, the dried liquid washes off completely while the dust can make it through gentle rains. It may be that it is not as concentrated as the dust. It may be that it washes through the soil more quickly. I emphasize that I do not know and that my observations are anecdotal. This is what I have experienced.

    Thank you for the great video! Do you recommend taking any precautions when the plant already has fruit on it?

    • @harvestinghistoryllc3161
      @harvestinghistoryllc3161  Před 4 lety +4

      Katerina, the only precaution is make sure you thoroughly wash the fruit when you harvest it. The copper fungicide will not enter fruit that is ripening on the vine.

      Katerina, very sorry for the delayed response to your question. Copper fungicide can be used with a plant that has fruit. It is approved for organic gardening. I would however wash the fruit when you harvest it, but you would do this anyway.

    Very informative video

    I would avoid getting a bunch of that stuff in the soil. Copper will not break down in the soil well, and if you get enough of it in there you will likely get some copper toxicity.

      You make an interesting point. Copper does not break down. It is an element. It does leach out of containers and raised beds and much more slowly other kinds of garden spaces. Thank you for your comment.

    Great video have you tried mixing neem oil with the copper fungicide for pest, and disease at the same time?
