Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy boss battle. How to Beat God Devouring Serpent. Elden Ring boss battle.
I love that this guy sleeps through the serpent half of the battle, then wakes up, takes one look at you and says "very well"
Yes that's what happened
He wasn't sleeping he was testing you but personally.
Especially when you’re happy you won but nah
Aesthetically, it's a warrior who has proven himself to be graced an audience with the Lord of Blasphemy at his approval to do battle.
Visually, it's like a deadbeat lord who just woke up from a nap with food on the table on a Tuesday morning.
I came I saw I kicked his FCKG assssss!
Really wish we had more dialogue from this guy, his voice is incredible
I’m pretty confident we’re gonna see more of him
@@bagofmarbles4712 where do we find this boss bro

For me this is by far the most memorable part of the whole game. I absolutely love Rykard Lord of Blasphemy & Volcano Manor is such an amazing legacy dungeon.
TOGETHAA
Man, imagine how hard animating this boss's 2nd form must've been.
It is the 2nd most biggest model file size for a character in the game. The 1st being the fire giant.
@Jensen fire "giant piece of shit"
Lol you can actually traces that his model reuse both Sekiro Tree dragon and the great serpent animation.
@@sys3248 Its a year later but no,Rykard doesnt reuse animation from these guys.

This dudes voice is absolutely perfect. It’s exactly how I imagine a half snake, half man would sound lol
One the best voice actings I've ever heard!
Its actually fucking flawless, i near enough shat my pants when he started talking
What about Voldemort tho
He reminds me of Aku from samurai jack
I confirm, my ex had the exact same voice
Also I love how while most other bosses have deep chad voices this guy sounds kind of goofy, like he has a frog stuck in his throat, although that makes him cooler.
His death line is even funnier. "Now we can devou dagods togedda!"
Fitting for Satanic Serpent Archetype, Praetor Rykard is the token complete monster of all Lord Radagon and Queen Marika's Demigod Offsprings.
Yeah it's silly but it fits so well. It makes him sound exactly as he looks. A filthy degenerate abomination gone insane. It makes him so uncanny

You haven't missed out, play them all after you beat Elden Ring. Also, I hope you have a PlayStation for Bloodborne.
@@zerohp5098 I do !!! Appreciate you
I really suggest starting with DS1 remaster.
@@cleangoblin2021 aye, but Bloodborne is way shorter, easier than DS1, not as clunky and closer to Elden Rings polished movement.
I think he should go down the ladder a notch before starting from the bottom rung 😬
Go play the others once you are done with this.
I honestly can’t ever see them deviating from this type of open world style again.
I pray to god Bloodborne 2 follows this, because it has my favorite lore.
When the mist above the arena becomes red in the second phase it triggers me some kind of strange anxiety even claustrophobia in me. My brain feels like now there is less space to fight even though it's not the case at all. Very cool design.
You must be easy to please if you think this basic crap is very cool design. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@btnhstillfire Very basic crap can be amazing if it's done right. Just think about punk music for instance.
@@btnhstillfire trololololol lololo lololo trololololo dee dee dee dee
@@btnhstillfire You must be completely ignorant if you think basic can't be good design. Not everything needs to be a 4 year calculus degree to be quality. Things like aesthetics, thematics, narration, setting, completely make a fight memorable. Something as simple as changing lighting and atmosphere can DRASTICALLY alter how a boss feels and simple changes which keep in theme with the encounter are often the best ones.
The mist somehow reminds me of the sky when Griffith holding the Egg

Ya know,I am glad Gimmicky Boss Fights like these exists.
Not every souls bosses had to be hardcore to straight up over tuned and frustratingly hard.
Sometime Gimmicky Yet challenging Spectacle Boss fight like this really gives player a fresh air to breath and spice things up in their play through...Especially when they had a rough one
This is so far the most epic sequence in any videogame; you, a mere "mortal" against a god devouring demon, fighting with a heavenly weapon. The music, and the visuals are just so great, the intese part of the song is almost perfectly synced with Rykard's skulls falling from a red sky, you're in hell. Thank you Fromsoftware for putting so much effort in an "optional" boss
Good to know NOW that the weapon exudes the wind blade on it’s normal attack aswell. Thought this was a Yhorm situation where only the weapon art did it. I litterally had to do this boss hitless and change all my flasks to blue to have enough FP to use the weapon art. Well i understand now why this boss isn’t awfully designed -_-
damn bro, youre a fucking chad
Can we use this skill outside boss fight? Its look insane op with that range
@@TienTran-uq6to nah only against this dude lol
Yeah, they clearly fixed all the flaws with this mechanic that Yhorm had.
@@LabTech41 Yhorm didn’t have any flaws
This is my favorite boss fight in the entire game. I like how the only way to effectively kill him is to use the serpent hunter spear. Always loved boss fights that require certain weapons to succeed.
Got him with a normal ass sword and this is my first soul game, just get up close and spam him until hes stunkocked.
I'm the complete opposite. I hate when fights severely restrict creativity and such. Could you imagine a boss which required a bow to succeed but you're heavily uninvested and it takes 15 minutes of tickling with arrows?
@@d1vin1ty u can still do as u please it's ur decision
Hate boss's that require specific weapon selection. Takes the uniqueness out of your approach to the fight, still a great boss in the end though.
@@d1vin1ty💯 Not a fan of boss fights that push you into a particular play style. Feels cheap.
Usually the hardest bosses are the most memorable, but this one even tough it's not that hard it's one of the coolest boss fights in ER.
Oh my god. I killed this boss with my normal weapon, took me almost an hour of tries. I was thinking this is the hardest boss in the game so far. Bruh, you're telling me there's a specific weapon to use which makes it MUCH easier 🤦🏾😂.
The weapon is absolute dog shit unless you upgrade the hell out of it. Rivers of Blood takes bigger chunks than the gimmick weapon. That should tell you how well this boss fight was designed. Basically an afterthought and they had to find a lazy way to up the difficulty by pouring lava in front of him so it makes you think the weapon it gives you can actually do some damage. Well it doesnt. Just go in w your normal weapon and use some throwables. Dont even bother w that fucking dumbass sword.
Same, I came to this video to see what the hell I was doing wrong
“Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuheeeeee JOIIIIIIIN THE SERPENT KIIIIING AS FAMILLYYYYYYYYY TOGATHAAAAAAAAA WE WILL DEVOUAAA THE VERY GODSHSHSHHHSSSSS”
It's like a gimmick but an actual fight
The boss is very epic. Even when I saw the first concept art, I was looking forward to a cool fight with him. And I was not mistaken, the dynamics of events are at the level of the battle with Ludwig from Bloodborne
I agree. It so fuckin epic that it even hard to put in words!
@Nick West Try to beat him without the snake hunter sword and without ashes. Then come again and call it easy ;)
@Nick West Very good point hahahaha but I think you could give it a try to fighting some bosses without the mimic, it makes a lot of fights way cooler
Oh the leaked concept arts. Nostalgia.
Epic?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 This boss is basic garbage. Nothing cool or unique about it. Just a bigger man serpent as a gimmick fight. Lazy design all the way around. One of the laziest in the series. Yhorm actually looked cool, this guy looks fucking dumb.
I fight this boss after finishing the game story and holy shit, I was impressed like I just started the game. This area and boss looked beautiful . So much detail
This is, hands down, the craziest fucking boss I have ever come across in any game, ever. The absolute fucking scale and insanity of it and surrealness of it just WOW.
Fighting this boss i remember being in awe the whole time, also forget Caelid, this is what hell looks like.
That sword of his is downright horrendous. I live the lovecraftian feel of this boss
This boss humbled tf out of me as a mage.

The art design of this game is off the charts, even for From Software.
Yeah he remind me of Nioh idk why
Hmm I mean, they already went above and beyond with Bloodborne, but Elden Ring reaches the same quality at times, while also having the diversity of Dark Souls 1.
I fucking love this game!
@@Metalton95 I'd argue that this definitely raised the bar. There are so many different bosses and variations, animations, arenas, themes etc. You never know to expect from a From boss but they shot for the moon in this one. Amazing boss designs and absolutely epic fights like this one.
I had this crazy random thought while i was reflecting on this boss. You all watched cartoons as a kid right? Each episode of those cartoons would be pretty normal and tame, but then you would have that one episode that was completely different, and had an antagonist with a shit your pants scary design. Rykard really reminds me of that for some reason, some character in a single episode of some children series that if you were a child watching it, it would be absolutely traumatizing, and you would love it for it.
Like that one episode of Samurai Jack with the Haunted house, or countless episodes of courage the cowardly dog
Nice of the game to give you the weapon you need before the fight.
The fact that the weapon is not only one that you need to beat the boss, but is also a reference to the Nameless King, just goes to show how absolutely amazing & clever it is.
Just like with Yhorm in DS3
And fighting a boss that devours a god (a nod to Aldrich)
This fight is cancer I bet none of you have beat it
get all blue flasks and summon and just use the spear even without summon its a cake walk
The way he looks and talks is incredibly unsettling. I hate it but I love it too.
Am I the only one who got chills when Rykard's first words to you were "Very well" before pulling out a fucking sword from a serpent's throat?
Nameless King Spear with Storm Ruler Effect. Neat.
This is the most metal thing From Software has done this far.
Oh look, they actually give us the gimmick weapon before the fight starts so that we don't have to equip them in the middle of a boss fight
*Fucking Yhorm...*
Yhorm was a good idea poorly executed. I'm glad they did a better version of the fight

No, it's not the Dragonslayer Swordspear. It's not imbued with lighting first of all. And this one states that it's a serpent slayer, it only works vs serpents. Plus, they look very different.
The Storm Ruler is still a good sword, I see...
Fought this guy for an hour before I realized I can stand in his lava and R1 spam to win. It hurts, but not as much as he does.
Exactly!
"This snake is easy"
Rykard "and I took that personally"
Literally celebrated when I killed the first phases and my face when the face come after is literally indescribable
I'm obsessed with his voice, It really makes me want to join the serpent king, as familyyyyy
First attempt I picked up and equipped the spear thinking it was a gimmick boss, used its art and it did hardly any damage and drained all my FP. I thought that was it. Went back to my normal weapon and fought it as normal, which is fine for the first phase. 2nd phase felt next to impossible. Now I realize you're meant to use the spear's normal attacks. Fuckin glad cause there's no way I'm tanking 2nd phase.

i nearly killed him hitless with a katana😂 his second phase was on 800 hp or something like that
I love how in the second part, the backdrops and scenery turn more and more vicious and infernal, especially when Rykard summons these kamikaze skulls.
At 1:14 - do you have s during your roll animation when you dodge? Because you absolutely should have gotten hit there, and/or eaten. Lol
Grunbeld using the Sword of Actuation?
At this point, Miyazaki isn't even hiding it anymore (and I appreciate it)
How on Earth did you record this footage of my argument last night with my wife?
The first few attempts I was an idiot and totally forgot I had the spear (the guy in the hallway told me about it). I entered the room, picked up the spear, went "maybe later, gonna do other quests" and when I came back I wondered why it was so hard LOL. Then my friend reminded me about it. Although he wasnt a difficult boss in the end, getting to his second phase with my bare fists and how the whole arena turns to hell on earth with his rancor makes this fight awesome. Basically a better version of the Yhorm fight from DS3.
Everyone berserk references. Me what in the orochimaru regurgitating swords from its mouth its going on
This was an excellent Stormruler boss fight. Yhorm was cool design-wise but was a huge letdown because they made him a cheap throwback (like almost everything in 3) so I'm glad they made this fight great
Bruh took a nap and woke up to a player
Reminds me of a mix between the serpent apostle and the skull knight pulling the behelith sword
its also a nod to the famed kusinagi blade.
Just for future runs. You can use the skill of the Serpent Hunter a second time to get a combo attack. Just using it once is kinda pointless.
Thank you for your video you know you're the only one that shows what kind of armor he picks the eye surcoat that armor has some good 👍 stats too for light armor
I loved this boss that turn around second phase got me good i wasnt expecting that!!! And that voice he talks like a snake like a lying deceiving person . Great fucking job with this game
i love how he died almost exactly when his phase 2 theme finished, really cool timing
I love those epic monsters with epic arenas and god tied dabbing!
Aldrich vibes?
Never thought Aldrich had a pet....
This guy has been kicking my butt ngl. Even though he’s a gimmick boss, he still is challenging to kill, mind you my serpent-killer is +5 so phase 1 is a piece of cake, phase 2 is not even fair in the slightest, first off in phase 2 he can basically reach across the arena just to slash down on you, another concern is that the serpent-killer’s ability can’t even reach this guys face without being within slashing range, forcing you to dodge. Being that this guy has a giant sword dodging isn’t the most effective up close. Anyways I’m getting smacked so I’m gonna take a break.
That weapon can be upgraded btw. When I did it was a lot easier. And don't forget the special attack with L2 x2.
I wish there would be a hidden place somewhere to replay the killed bosses you encountered ((

If you level up the serpent hunter all the way up to +10 this fight becomes a cake walk, it's also a good all around weapon to run with a shield fo sho
I see a lot of people praising this boss but the attack that kills you instantly from lifting the ground is bs
