  • Cambridge American Cemetery is the only WWII American military cemetery in the United Kingdom.
During the war, some three million Americans came to the British Isles to prepare, train, and fight for freedom in Europe and beyond.
More than 3,800 of those Americans are buried here, and more than 5,000 others are memorialized on the cemetery's Wall of the Missing, forever honored.
    Together, We Remember their sacrifice.

Thank you, and we owe you so much too. I served in Afghanistan in 2012 with the RAF, I met some great American troops out there who I consider brothers in arms.
Long may our alliance and friendship continue, whilst the rest of the world rips itself apart it’s comforting to know that we have the closest of relationships with our allies; the US, Canada, Australia and NZ.
RIP to all those US servicemen and women who gave their lives to defend our nation. Thank you 🇬🇧🇺🇸.

I have had the privilege of visiting this Cambridge American Cemetery twice. It is a beautiful and moving experience visiting knowing what these young people were fighting for and knowing their sacrifice was for freedom and against fascism. The walk to the chapel stirs the emotions as you take everything in.

I am SO touched by the beauty of these holy grounds that hold your "forever young" warriors!!! Your videography is at the pinnacle of excellence!!! Everything from the choice of music, drone footage, super-imposed film footage over memorials, etc.. All of these attributes add up to the honor each of these patriots deserve!!! Wish I could be a part of the caring team for these hallowed grounds. Please give my thanks to those dedicated souls who meticulously care for this very special place.!!! >

Husband Jerry and I went to that cemetery in June of 1984, chosen from what a travel book said about it. It was #1 on our "must see" list. I was born in 1935, my husband in '29, and we both had relatives who fought in the second world war. In fact, I had an uncle (a bomber pilot) and another (an airplane mechanic in Italy) still living, and as I looked both inside and outside of this monument I thought of what they -- and those in this cemetery -- went through. In looking at the pictures above, there is much that wasn't there in 1984 . It is gratifying to see how lovely the area and buildings that honor our lost heroes have developed. Back then when I stepped into the chapel and looked at the ceiling -- with every type of US plane flying against a light blue background -- and then when I saw that the artist had scattered images of beautiful angels flying in between and front and back of all those plans, Jerry and I both burst into tears. I have never, ever in a cemetery been so moved. Whoever designed those images was led by something more than talent.
My uncles came home; those in this cemetery who didn't are in one of the most touchingly beautiful places I've been lucky enough to see. I have since told everybody I know who wonders where to go on a vacation to GO there. It will honor our military and our country and truly touch your life, no matter how old you are..

My uncle, Vincent P. Hyland, is buried here. He was my father's youngest brother. He was a nose turret gunner on a B-17 which was hit by flak over Germany. The plane made it all the way back to the airfield in Norwich, England and as they turned to land, the last engine cut out and they crashed. He died in January, 1945. Mary Ann and I visited his grave in 2019 and it was one of the highlights of our trip to England.
