Great video. If pro races like World Cup and Olympics had this kind of view live during the race then mountain biking would be a much bigger sport on TV. I can't understand why they don't invest in the technology to do that.

I don’t understand how so many guys can ride without eye protection. When I was racing off road in the 90s, I ALWAYS wore eye protection. Not just for the dirt and bugs, but my eyes would water up from the speed and I couldn’t see without them.

That's the program I was following. In a nutshell: if you can't train a lot then ride flat out all the time.

+burundis40 I tried both wheel sizes and the 27.5 setup just felt more balanced, more agile and lighter. On the downside it is more technical to ride over the rough sections, but the suspension compensates.

Hey Ben - great video. I love how you flip back and forth between front and back. What editing software do you use and does it help you sync up the two videos once you have the starts aligned or do you have to work at splicing them. Audio suggests the splicing is perfect.
+Joseph Lampen Thanks! I use Final Cut. I sync with the good old clapper board technique, using the whistle as the sync point. And I only use the audio channels from the head camera. The video channels don't seem to drift though.
+Ben Goyette cool. Thanks for the response. I use iMovie so I will have to play around with separating the audio feed from the video feeds before splicing. Definitely a cool way to show the race. Separate from that what was the total elevation gain for this race and what bike are you riding?

Fantastic. I'm always in awe and a little bit jealous of the elevation Western US XC riding/racing offers. I have a race this Sunday here in Michigan that will be about 20 miles in two laps (I race Expert as well), take about 1:45, and has less than 1,500ft of gain.
This looks like good fun. I am an avid XC rider in the Netherlands but have never joined a race.
How much do you pay in the US to join these kind of races?

+Bob moritz Not sure if burped or a sealed puncture. It was maybe down to 10 PSI on that downhill before I used the CO2 -- that was sketchy!
