Demming only been there for 3 episodes and already got a kiss from Kate, meanwhile Castle was there from the beginning and even save Kate from a bomb and still in the friendzone. 😂
Such a perfect song for this moment. His face when he sees it and then she sees him and he tries to act like he's busy. My heart broke for him :( BUT NOW THEY ARE TOGETHER!!!!!!!! Demming Schlemming
As a guy that's been in Castle's position a number of times, this scene always hits close to the chest.
This was a sad scene. Gotta give Castle credit, he put her before himself, even if it means he's hurting. He's able to keep up a strong front when facing Beckett afterwards.
This was an "Aww," moment, where I totally felt sad for Castle...I love you Nathan!
This scene really gets me.... that feeling when you know two people fit together but they get someone else.....
Nathan is BRILLIANT when it comes to emotions playing over his face, his experience on OLTL is a major factor here.
Beckett looks sooo pretty here! I mean, she's always gorgeous, but she looks amazing in this episode! Every time I watch this scene, I die a little bit inside! :'( This song fits so well...
Whenever i remember this scene, my sympathy for Beckett at the season 2 finale crashes and burn a little bit. Poor Castle..let me give you a hug :'(

@82Jaster You make excellent points. :) The "out of sight out of mind" thing definately influences the jelousy. And in season 2 when Beckett said "... now that me and Tom are together..." it struck a chord in Castle as well as when Castle saw them kiss. Oh and the episode where Alexis and Castle are playing poker and she wins and Castle says: "I'm not used to losing" I think that mirrors the situation with him and Beckett. I felt so bad for him. I can't blame him for wanting to leave.

up until now I've watched like 5 episodes of Castle on tv..... great tv show I gotta say.
This scene actually makes me want to watch the whole series because I LOVE how the tension between these two characters is shown

I personally feel bad for Demming a tad bit... He was very gentlemanly towards Castle. He triple asked Castle whether there was a flag on play. Castle said no each time. Although technically it was honest...
Hate me if you want. I still feel bad for how it ended for him. And then for Beckett seeing Castle together with his ex...
ok firstly i absolutely LOVE Beckett's hair in this episode its so cute.
Secondly out of all Beckett's boyfriends on the show (will, josh and Demming) i think the episodes with demming had some of the saddest moments in Castle, Demming totally frustrated me the most even more that josh because Castle looks so hurt when he sees Kate and Demming kiss

Male lead and female lead even if they are in love, they dont confess till Season 4 or season 5 due to worst possible reason.
By that time new guy comes and puts few pickup line, girl gets impressed and thinks she wanna be happy and new guy makes her happy in 1 or 2 episodes. He sleeps with her in first date(while male lead was waiting for 4 seasons/many yrs) and lead gets jealous. She dumps him finds another new bf, gets f**ked. And then goes to lead all used up as used tissue paper. They live happily ever after.
Aww, you can just about see his heart and hope shatter into a million pieces. And Kate has no idea. I thought she was supposed to see the things that people are hiding. *sigh* poor poor Castle
No Beckett had feelings for Castle but she pushed them away and kept DENYING them because they work together!
I wonder when did Castle realize his feelings for Kate? I mean it sorta feels like it was all a game to him before Demming came into the picture while Beckett has known about her feelings for Castle since the beginning.
Well see Castle had feelings for Beckett from the very beginning, in the pilot it's pretty obvious. But Kate denied them till Castle told her it would be his last case.
Beckett was only with Demming because she was afraid Castle would break her heart.

@LaHistoire Great points. Since the show started Castle has largely only been with women that are very much like his ex wives, highly superficial and people that just generally annoy Castle in the long run. Beckett is very much like Kira in that she's real (as Beckett would say). Kira is also the woman that he was clearly heartbroken over not being with. Interestingly we never learned why they broke up because Castle didn't want to tell Beckett. (continued in next post)
Kyra went to Europe. She also asked Castle for some time and space. I assumed this was even before Castle became a successful novelist. Remember Kyra's disapproving mom? That was why they broke up. This was also why Castle got upset when he learned of Beckett's plan to apply for a job in DC. He lost his love before fore the same reason and he was afraid the same thing was happening again.
@@lilsun724 True about his breakup with Kira but unlike Kira ,Beckett didn't ask for space and time she STILL wanted to be in a relationship with him.
That made Castle want to PROPERLY to her!!
@LaHistoire I'd say that he's had feelings for her for a while. You can tell by how he'd react any time he thought that she was in a relationship. I think that what scared him about Demming is that he's the type of guy that Castle thinks Beckett wants to be with. He's serious just like her and that's generally the type of guy that she's dated. That's what makes the interrogation scene in the S3 premiere interesting. You can see that Castle is genuinely shocked he realizes that they broke up.
She broke up with Demning because she REALIZED her feelings for Castle was more than a friend!!

Fate has been so cruel to Castle! But he took it like a man nonetheless. What a character. :)
But he was also PATIENT with Kate which Will,Demming and Josh could NEVER do. For heaven sake the man waited 4 years to be WITH her not just have a one night stand, Castle wanted a SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP WITH HER!!!
@LaHistoire You could be right about Josh. But Castle rarely sees him, which is why I think that he isn't as worried about him. With Demming he would've had to come to the station and see them together since he worked there. That's something that he couldn't handle which is why he left at the end of S2. That's similar to Beckett in that she doesn't seem to be bothered with Gina as she doesn't see her. But the second that she realized that Castle was interested in Natalie she got really jealous.
I would rather have someone like Castle.
Being able to make someone laugh is a skill that lasts longer than looks. IMO.
@LaHistoire In S2 you had that moment when Beckett said that she had plans during a case, so she went home early. Castle immediately thought she was going to see a guy even though she said that it wasn't the case (she was actually going home to read his book in the way that he'd described in the previous episode). You also have the whole fireman incident where he just happened to show up at the same restaurant that she'd mentioned to him earlier. (continued in next post)
This was the first time she’s ever broke his heart we can clearly see that in his eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Castle broke HER heart when he left with Gina in the s2 finale!!!
Poor castle he looks like he got sucker punched and very emotionally hurt at the same time.
Its like he didn't want to LOOK away when he saw them but he had to FORCE himself to look away.
There was PAIN written all over his face.

@82Jaster It's actually been a while since I've watched Castle season 1 or 2, so hence the question, but I definately did notice how Castle was genuinely shocked to find out they'd broken up. Beckett's new boyfriend, I think poses an even more serious "threat" to Castle given that he's a cardiologist. With episode 13 comming up it'll be interesting to see how Castle and Beckett's partnership evolves. If the show survives Castle's "public display of affection" this early on, I salute them.

Oh god, I just saw the episode! It's heartbreaking to see castle's face, I even shed some tears! Aish! I agree with what kitten said in one of the other episodes , he's way to pretty! Demming is way to picture perfect, whats the fun with that! Kate and him may be a good mach, but she'll always miss that connection, the sparks that she and castle have. I guess the only reason she choose him is because she thinks castle is just a playboy who won't love her!

Okay. my take on the season 3 finale:
josh proposes. castle cant tke her being with someone else and haveing to witness it, so he tells her that is going to stop shadowing her. she says no to josh and tells castle that she loves him, and they kiss. then its over and we have to wait for like 3 months.
Beckett sees him and Castles like oh shit can let her SEE me upset basically.
How could Beckett not see his CHANGE of emotions???
i think beckett's worst bf is him.not that i hate him,but he just have those expression he gave to castle that killing me inside,and i personally think from josh,will and demming.he's the one who hurt castle the most. i know josh pushed castle to the wall,but idk,he didn't show up too much,so i don't even know him.and the best is will,2 words: HE KNOWS. and he accepts it. that's what i like about will.he accepts the truth.he didn't fight the fate.

There were many times where Castle had the OPPORTUNITY to tell her how he really felt but chose not to.

@LaHistoire I think that they broke up because Castle was scared to commit. I base this on Kira mentioning that she knew him back when he was just becoming famous. Which basically means that he couldn't experience fame as a single guy. He's been married since but always to people that he's really not compatible with. I think that's what prevents him from pulling the trigger with Beckett as she would be the end of his old ways.

Castle never had a woman love him for him like Kate actually does.

@LaHistoire I'm largely talking about Castle's inability to not flirt with every attractive woman that he sees. Even with them not dating you can tell that it annoys Beckett when he does that. Although all of that might just have to do with him trying to maintain his playboy image. Martha actually brought that up at the end of 'Inventing the Girl' when she realized that he was inviting Rina over so that she could have a friend (Alexis) to turn to and not so that he could hook up with her.
Exactly because she wants his EYES on her only. But same goes with Beckett talking/flirting with another guy which Castle does NOT like. For example he got jealous when Brad the firefighter called her and she was smiling!

@82Jaster Being with Beckett would definately change his lifestyle but then again I don't think Beckett would want him to change himself too much, that's not the person she fell in love with. But I also think that Castle is afraid that her feelings toward him have changed with Josh in the picture, and obviously he can't go breaking them up. He wouldn't want to hurt her that way. Or I doubt it. And Kira definately was someone very special for Castle. Maybe his first love, even.
I disagree about Kira probably one his most cherished relationships but not his first love ,if they were MEANT to be she would've married Castle but that didn't happen she moved on with Greg.
