  • Here we have an extreme ported Husky 390xp for a gentleman out of Oregon. We are taking on a 3' (3 long logs) spruce growing on top of an old stump. It is sporting a 110 driver 3/8s pitch Oregon light weight bar, which I call a 33" bar, and full comp Husqvarna (Oregon) chain. This chain has the stops down a wee bit for the redwood that is the bulk of this strip. You can hear the chatter in the chain but the 390 just pulls through it. You can also see the wood pull on the stump which is an indicator of the wood toughness.
    Honorable mention also as this saw came fitted with an 8 tooth sprocket and I have my chain set up for a 7 tooth.
    Initial response for from the owner is that it is a beast, so, we are happy there!
    The sound quality from the GoPro is not so great - sorry.
    I am currently available for port work. If you are in need or want to try something new, shoot me an email.

    Always enjoy your vids, Jack, and the beautifully working saws that come out of your shop! Looked like a sketchy place to work/escape from on this one. Nice job, as always.

    No Jack I have not seen one yet. I talked to a guy who ran one and he said it was really strong. My Husky rep it is supposed to be released in early 17.

    Hello!
    Can you recommend any good big bore kits for a Husqvarna 372XPG? I live in Sweden so international shipping is a requirement! Thanks

      @hotsaws101  Před 7 lety +3

      You never mentioned if it was pre or post x-torq?
      I "wood" stay away from the choices coming out of mainland China unless you have a accurate bore gauge and micrometer to check tolerances first. They tend to run sloppy. The early versions out of Taiwan were better. now it seems to be a crap shoot. I would send the extra dough and get an oem, factory 75.4mm 372xpw top end. At least then you know it will last. Thanks for watching.

    Due to the holding wood or hing it appears (as you call it) a dutch man was in play. Working up that far off the ground how do you get the tree away from the stump before the top hits the ground. Hope it's not a dumb question.

    Hey Jack which do you like better, 390, Stihl 461 or the 7900? Thanks

    • @TheWayfaringMan
      @TheWayfaringMan Před 8 lety +1

      I'd think that the 461 would be a great saw for all around use, the 7910 is a hell of a saw w/a bit more snot but a ported 390xp is something else. I love my hot ported 372, but running a mildly ported 390 that a friend has made my 372 look anemic, (which it's not by a long shot). They're not much bigger or heavier than the 372, 461 or 7910, but the power is phenomenal, once woods ported.

      What kind of trees, what size are they running, and where are we cutting? I use different machines in varying conditions and definitely have an opinion about the saws mentioned here. Thanks for watching.

    Have you got to test the prototype Husqvarna 572 yet? They are supposed to be released in early 17.

    • @hotsaws101
      @hotsaws101  Před 7 lety

      Nope. You?
      Been hounding the Husky Rep for several years, ever since outboard clutch version was being tested in '12. Do have some pics of the second gen inboard clutch version. That's the best I can do. If you haven't seen one, they appear to be a 562 on growth hormones. The report I get is they are about the same as a stock 461.

    Damn that is a tall stump, what is up with that?

  • @openstationloggingkevinbak4625

    just wondering what happened to the butts on these trees? u are cutting high on tree leaving a tall stump

    • @hotsaws101
      @hotsaws101  Před 7 lety +1

      Hello. I am cutting the tree where there actually is decent (mill-able) wood. Due to the way some trees grow, especially in redwood country, a high stump is at times necessary.
      Thanks for watching.

      Tim hi. In a way it is. This is from when I was playing around with different things in saw engines as the progression was happening. So, extreme, yes. On the cusp of the Insane-O zippkit of today.
      Thanks for watching.

      It's fluted bad below where it was cut. This tree was growing over the top of an older stump. Thanks for watching.
