    A small vehicle adds flexibility. If you need to take a break from “roughing it” you can always stay in a hotel or Airbnb for a few days to shower, get good food, wash clothes, etc.

    • @offtrackfamily
      @offtrackfamily  Před 2 lety

      I agree, way more convenient to have a "small" 4x4 setup staying at regular car size. It's often what we do during our longer holidays when I get fed up of not having a real bathroom with hot water 😜

    Absolutely brilliant. You hit the nail on the head concerning Instagram "camper build" photo's. Only for show, they could never work practically

    • @offtrackfamily
      @offtrackfamily  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks! I feel most of them are okay for road use and campsites stops but rare are those made for several days of offroad/ offgrid exploring. Some are really appealing but not okay for families for example.

    I agree with all at 99%, some fancy stickers than add 10'000 HP or make offroad simple I really need! ) ... I did not notice if you have a fire extinguisher, if you think a co2 that saves electronics or a classic powder? I was oriented on a "MAUS XTIN" type (money permitting I take 2 for my rig, one side under the driver seat, the other behind the tailgate)

    Great job , have what suits you , to hell with everyone else . Your needs are what’s important, I have a Freelander 2 that has to be my every day driver carrying 2 adults and various grand children , so my conversion has to be removable . It wouldn’t suit anyone else but it works for me
    Enjoy your time with your kids , they will be gone before you notice 👍

    Very informative and i fully agree with you on the 3 main points. My defender build (which is still in progress) will also be very practical more than pretty. I do have less budget to spend than yours, hence using cheaper products (eg China Lifepo4 batteries instead of Victron) but overall still function great. I also like to keep a stealth presence so that i can go anywhere, park anywhere without attracting too much attention. Keep us posted on your build progress. Can't wait to see the final results :)

It seems you and your husband are both into fitness - maybe a topic for another video, but what are you taking with you to stay fit during your trips? Running gear, weights, kettle-bells, skipping ropes etc.. Great to see the fantastic new electrical build.

    The build is coming along great! Do you bring axel/jack stands with you along with your tools? A lot of jobs require these as it is not very safe to work under a jack alone. I am trying to decide if I need to bring them with me but they take up so much space!
