My friend Anna Rabtsun is from Russia, but now resides with her Filipino husband in Cavite, Philippines. While learning how to speak Filipino she has learned quite a few Tagalog songs, and she asked me if I would be up for a duet of this song with her. This was my first time ever singing a Filipino song with another foreigner. Ang saya saya! Hope you enjoy our acoustic rendition! :)

I'm peruvian living in Canada, speaks Spanish, french, english, portuguese, and I wanna learn tagalog, I've been to the Philippines twice and I chose this song to help me learn (that's how I learned portuguese, with bossa nova). What was my surprise when I saw 2 foreigners singing this song, I guess it has a worldwide reach, and that's what music is all about. Thanks for that cover!

It's amazing how foreigners show their appreciation for Pinoy music by learning to sing it and even sharing their videos. Original Pilipino music (most of it) is indeed beautiful - both melody and lyrics - but in this KPOP and HipHop age it gets lost amidst a lot of noise.

Such a beautiful rendition of Sharon Cuneta's now-classic song. I never realized how beautiful it was until after more than 30 years of being abroad, and I hear an American guy singing it with a Russian lady. It is absolutely touching. Sometimes Filipinos are mystified by the fact that foreigners end up marrying somebody from the islands they grew up in, but I feel the culture draws people in like a magnet. There's this innocent warmth in the Filipino that is hard to find and being one I feel it through this song. Thank you for this gift of song!

I love the song not only because it suits the poor old me, but more so because it makes alive the promise of togetherness that married couples assured each other as they took their vows before God and the community to stick to each other through eternity, no matter what. And as sung by two equally beautiful and gifted individuals of vastly diverse ethnic origin and culture (Russian and American?), I may say that the song - lyrics, melody and all - resonates to probably all people the world over.
