Remember the forums basically dying. And many asking for refunds. Then all the sudden hold fast releases and seems very similar. And the updates for battlecry start back up and they continue. And here we are. Many years later. I still remember when a Dev teased a picture of a battery Wagner map. Wonder what ever happened to that?
@@darthredbeard2421 agreed, they could have even created a total war Victorian age, to cover everything diring the 1800's, out side of Napoleon. That would have even set up for a WW1 based game. The politics surrounding it all is what is keeping it from happening, imo.
BCoF offers a wide variety of gameplay from more arcadey to more realistic. Admins and server owners can change various server settings(over 130 that can be changed in server currently) and more in the config file. This includes things like forcing first person. There are currently 10 different game modes to play, with more planned. Servers are not required to go through one company or person. You can put it on your own box, rent one from someone else, and even on your own computer if you know what to do with ports and what not. There is dynamic weather and time of day system. There are sappers, musicians and medics to help your team out. There is a customization system so you can select what weapons and gear they have on a per troop basis. The gear you select from depends on the unit in question. We have hundreds of weapons and tools that troops can use. You can make your own maps in game(historical or not, up to you!), and put them on servers very easily. You can even work on maps together in server. Admining in general is a lot more user friendly. Between server settings and the admin UI, dealing with high player count servers is a lot more manageable than in NW. @@ronal8824 The game takes a lot of inspiration from its predecessor. Mount and blade Napoleonic Wars. HF went from being a NW era naval game to try and copy NW after blackwake came out.
You can select different musket sounds if you don't like the default one. 2 of the current FSE devs helped them out back in the day. HF is using some of Bcofs assets.
Wait are the maps like fully customizable? Like you can place down certain vegetation, objects, and terrain or just custom weather environments and game modes?
There is a map editor and you can modify maps at runtime while playing on the server, spawning or deleting props. Weather can be changed too, so can gamemodes.
Consoles are built mostly on "middle of the tree" pc hardware at the time of their inception (much less at release, at release theyre pretty much nearly outdated). As such they just *don't* have the umpf it takes for games of this magnitude.

They're making a mod for ETW right now. I wouldn't count on CA and SEGA anymore
