Underrated Music from Xenoblade X (UPDATED)

- Xenoblade Chronicles X's soundtrack is characterized by some of its most popular songs - however, this OST is chock-full of hidden gems that are often overlooked for one reason or another, whether it’s due to lack of usage within the game, unconventional instruments that take some getting used to, or difficult-to-remember titles. These songs might not be for everyone, but I hope there are at least a few songs on here that you'll learn to love!

You might have noticed that this video is an updated playlist (version 2.0) of my very first video on the channel with the same theme, so I wanted to talk about why I decided to remake it. After recently finishing my second playthrough of XCX, I realized a few things about my previous version of this playlist:
- It had several glaring omissions! I couldn't believe some of the songs I overlooked
- It didn't dig deep enough. It ended up being half "deep cuts" from the soundtrack and half "no one gave XCX's soundtrack enough credit so technically these songs are underrated in the grand scheme of video game soundtracks as a whole", and while I think a mix of these two ideas is important, I wanted this playlist to skew more towards the former
- In addition, I knew that at some point I wanted to make my own "Best of XCX OST", and in the process of making that video, I realized that most of the songs in my "Underrated XCX" video ended up on that one as well, resulting in me not really listening to my "Underrated XCX" video since it had been essentially subsumed by the "Best of XCX OST" video. I decided this would be a good opportunity for a little refinement, to get the most out of having multiple XCX playlists, and to shine a spotlight on some truly phenomenal tracks that might even be deep cuts for some dedicated XCX fans. I was pretty happy with how the two playlists turned out, and I hope you like them as well! :)

The Telethia battle theme is so slept on, I think it's just so incredibly unique especially with the buildup and it is, in my opinion, one of Sawano's best "grand battle"-style tracks. But I never really see anyone mention it, so thank you for including it in this video!
I absolutely agree! Everything about that battle was incredible, from the boss design to the setting to the level of challenge. And the music is just perfect. As you said, nailing that “grand battle” style, it’s one of the most epic songs in the series imo. After what we see of the Telethia in the main story, and the magical ascent to find the Telethia in its home, they set that battle up really well, and the Endbringer really lived up to the hype!

Xenoblade Chronicles X’s soundtrack is notoriously strange. It’s a game full of wonder, with magical area themes and epic battle themes, yet also contains some unusual creative decisions regarding its sound, like the infamous vocals in New LA or the bitcrunch of Cauldros.
Rather than dismissing those peculiarities, I think if you give them a chance, they will really grow on you over time. For me, these songs play a huge role in making X’s soundtrack truly one of a kind.
In this video I wanted to highlight some of X’s songs that I think are weird yet amazing, and also pick out a selection that is overall under-appreciated. Hope you enjoy! :)
Wait, people dislike cauldros' bitcrunch? I've always loved it
@@ben5424 It's possible the dislike for it isn't as widespread as I thought, but I've definitely heard people voice that opinion. Personally, I think it works pretty well in-game, but outside the game not so much. I think I'm just used to it at this point, but it can be a bit jarring. It makes me wonder whether the Cauldros music is not more popular because people can't get past the bitcrunch. Cauldros' music is so good otherwise that I can't think of any other reason
OMG YES!!! I love the ocean themes! Such a shame you rarely go to the ocean... Really wish there was more to do than get some treasure and collectables.
I was not expecting another XCX video so soon, I'm really happy to have another assorted selection.
In all honesty, this Soundtrack just has too many different tracks that burnt themselves into my memory, It must be incredibly hard to pick some of them over another.
Hiroyuki Sawano is simply a genius, so hearing lesser known bangers by him is always welcome!

You might be looking for the first song in this video, which is titled "NEMOUSU秘OUS (Section 2)"? It plays for a lot of quests during conversations with other characters

I bought this to build my Wii U library the other Christmas and 106 hours in. Not a moment of regret. Seems I also made the right decision to start the Xenoblade saga with X, since there seemed to be backlash about this game after 1.
