I appreciate how Guardiola who idolises Bielsa as a coach, has bought one of Bielsas disciples in Philips. Kalvin Philips has good positioning sense, excellent at ball interceptions, can cover the ground at pace and most importantly is a very good passer of the ball. Another English player that will develop under one of if not the best coach in football today.

He’s an academy product, broke into a team at a time Leeds were going through a lot of off field issues, managers were in and out. For any young player to get into the 1st team is huge, for them to stay part of it with many managers coming in and out says a lot about him. His position isn’t one that new managers would trust with someone so young, especially with their job on the line! Then there’s Bielsas times who really got the best of him and it’s those performances that has encouraged Pep to bring him in. It’s a fantastic journey that so few make and he’s earned it!

England should of done both competitions but couldn’t. Even that penalty shootout looked like is was more about creating a narrative of “look what black players have done for England” rather than putting our best players forward, no way am I having a 19 year old with very limited experience as being the best option 🙄 as for Rashford and Sancho, they were bit part players at the most! @@ianmcdonald3053 Italy at the time of the euros were undefeated in 30 something games though, although i do agree we have a good generation of england players its nothing compared to the 00’s team which had world class players everywhere i do think we played at a good level against italy.
