We own a MTD tractor with Briggs and Stratton parts. Just me and hubby. Empty nester. Anyways reverse will work at times but, not on an incline. When I have the tractor in neutral it seems to want to drive. My brother owned a tractor that would do the same thing. Any idea 💡 I'll check my belts and get back to ya.
With out being able to see the tractor these are just a guess, first like you mentioned check the belts. They may be worn, covered with grease etc. Next check the pulleys they do wear after time. Next check to see if you have an oil leak around the back wheel axel. Then check the fluid in the transmission/transaxle. Low fluid would cause it to slip. A worn gear in the transmission/transaxle would usually cause a clicking sound or a sudden jumping out of gear, but the forward gear would usually go first. As far as it moving in neutral that is an adjustment. I have video "NO reverse fix" it is on a Craftsman rider but it may be of help on how to adjust your rider;;

The relief valves can stick open, and it will not move. Clean and lube them, and problem solved.

@@robertheinkel6225 where is the relief valve located??
So does the lever loosen the belt , allowing you to move the machine ? If so I’m sure you won’t do that again… hope you get the right belt the first time .
Hi John, the lever does not loosen the belt. It is connected inside of the transmission to a bypass to put it into a neutral state. Not sure if I am explaining that clearly. I do not know what caused that belt to slip off. Had to remove the clutch to put it back on due to the belt guide.

How to fix forward & reverse pedals locked down on husquana riding mower
Hi Danny, I do not have a Husqvarna on hand to check it out. I would first check all the pulleys to see if anything is stuck, twigs, grass build up, then make sure they are not sized. Next I would check all the linkages connected to the pedals up to the transmission/transaxle. Check for any binding twisted links or maybe just a missing cotter pin. Also look to see where the springs are, check to make sure there isn't any grass, twigs, string, wire etc. packing around them & that they are still connected. Let me know if this helped.

Hi, can you please see the problem of the burn on the lower bonnet due to the muffler, I have the same problem what does it depend on?
Thank you for stopping by. I am not sure this mower was a rescue. I picked it up after it caught on fire. I believe the fire started due to a oil seal leak. I have several videos repairing this mower. Rebuilding the starter, carburetor and oil seal etc. Looking it over the muffler may be getting too hot.

They should eliminate the engineer who developed husqvarna..they are so hard to work on..removing all the cotter keys to get to belly and serpentine belt, linkage, pin in wheel etc are insane
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
@user-jr2jf6py4k They definitely do not make it easy to work on. I believe this is intentional but with a lot of patience we do get it done.
