    I was born in 1996 and seeing this makes me feel like I wasn't. The rate of change in culture at the end of the nineties and into the early 2000's makes this era feel completely foreign to the people who were born in it. Especially considering that basically everyone is barely forming memories for the first 3-5 years of life so you're effectively missing an entire era.

    I just like how much less populated the city was. Room to actually walk on the sidewalks in midtown without having to navigate around idiot tourists

      They werent even that new then. Take a look at the opening scene of "The Pope of Greenwich Village." You'll see the same bus even then in 1983-4

      Yeah, those 1996 RTS's. They lasted 22 years, with the last ones retiring in December 2018.

      We had buses here in San Diego retire last year that were commissioned in 1997. They were honestly in better shape than the newer ones after a few years lol

      aw man dude. They wore hella north face in the 90's by far. Its crazy because I learned that not too long ago. When I was in the 10th-12 grade in hs back between 2011-14 everybody broke out with northface during the fall and winter months. I don't see them as much as I used too

    These where glorious days to live in NY. No virtue signalling, no mobile phones, ordinary people able to afford rent, time square hadn't been completely disneyfied yet etc..

      I didn't know when that had happened. When I commuted down Fifth from E 83rd St by bus, it was southbound only (early seventies). Thank you.

      1991 was the last year American made a full metal car. the 1991 grand marquis was the last boxy metal car. It's a shame

    I remember leaving Tavern on the Green and watching a pedestrian get annoyed at a Taxi and "stomp walked" right on the hood and roof and off the trunk and kept walking. Priceless.
