London has the best mix of old traditional architecture and the most modern skyscrapers. Beautiful walk as usual. Saved to watch again tonight on tv 😉
Yes I love the mix too, hope you enjoy it pal.
Watched Walker - I only watched a few minutes. Cant wait to watch it tonight at home 🍿
There's something very calming about walking around the financial district on a Sunday afternoon
Yes, well, except for the helicopter!
London is the best city in the world for me .Thanks for reminding me of how great it is now that I'm miles away.
You’re welcome Nigel :)
You can never ever can get bored with London walking tour... you film million times and i watch million times... simple!!
Hasan
Lahore, Pakistan
Thanks Hasan!
Over here in New England USA , we were discussing the idea that if we could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? My sister wanted to go to Austria. I didn't even have to think about it. I said I wanted to go to London and walk with the Watched Walker!!!!🙂
Aw, thank you so much Patty, that's a lovely thing to say! :)
🤣🤣🤣
My heart soars with fire when I see city of London skyscraper I set fire to my heart
Compared to Shanghai, London looks like a small town
pancake D ... I live in Shanghai ... I agree that Shanghai has many more skyscrapers than London, but so it should do ... Shanghai is the commercial centre of a country with 1.4 billion people. London is the commercial centre of a country with only 65 million people. Of course cities in China and also the US will build far more high rise buildings, as they are bigger economies and need more office / living space. It's kinda obvious.
Having said that, Shanghai is still not yet considered one of the top 3 financial cities in the world. Asia's most important financial centres are still Hong Kong and Singapore.
London is ranked 2nd in the Global Financial Centres Index ... not bad for a "small town".
@@realdeal7530You're also forgetting history. There are still many historic buildings in the City of London, so that the City is an interesting mix of old and new. London doesn't need to look like Shanghai or any other Asian city. It was founded by the Romans 2,000 years ago, still possesses the same Roman road layout with medieval additions. The story of London is one of evolution over a long period of time. London does not have to prove anything to anyone.
ds1868 ... You don't need to tell me that. I'm from London myself, grew up in Finchley. I live in Shanghai now, and sure the skyline is impressive, but it lacks the same character and soul of cities such as London and Paris. In Shanghai you won't see anything as beautiful or distinctive as the Regency style architecture around Marylebone. Or the dome of St.Paul's Cathedral ... London's charm is the mixture of architecture from different periods. Sure Shanghai has The Bund, but most of the city is just concrete high rises, and a cluster of glass skyscrapers in Lujiazui, which is like a bigger, more intense version of London's Docklands district ... It really depends on what you find visually appealing. If huge skyscrapers are your bag, then Dubai, Shanghai and Hong Kong will impress more, but for those who like classic architecture with a European charm, then of course cities such as London, Paris, Rome, Venice and Barcelona will look more attractive. All depends on individual preferences.
@@italianoetnico.calabreseve9262 London and NYC regularly change places for the number 1 spot
It's amazing how much London changes, if you haven't visited in just one year.🇬🇧🌇
Yes, new buildings going up all the time.
last time went was 2016.. boy, i can barely recognize anything anymore..
Compared to Shanghai, London looks like a small town
What a fascinating mix of Buildings from past, present and future. An architectural feast for the eyes! Thank you watched Walker
Love your videos! I live in California, but my 5 year old is obsessed with London and especially thinks Gherkin is the coolest building. Cheers mate!
Strangely I walk around the Gherkin every day and I still think it's one of the coolest buildings anywhere!
WOW !!! Your best yet!! Absolutely brilliant. My favourite area in London if not the World !!
Aw, thank you Jimmy!
I totally agree.
This is a STUNNING video hon, calming and as ever London is a feast for the eyes! just brilliant x
Thank you MMV! :)
One thing I noticed was how clean and crisp the buildings are! Look at the Bank 2:23 Looks like it was finished yesterday.
All the buildings at Bank including the Royal Exchange and the Bank of England were restored recently so all the stonework looks great. The scaffolding was a pain to walk around when it was up though.
That skyscraper scenery is very enjoyable 🏭
Great job !
Thank you!
Great videography. This is exactly how I like to watch tall buildings. The pace of the video is also perfect.
Awesome, this was a really smooth watch. Beautiful filming and beautiful city.
Thank you!
Wonderful london. And what a building the bishopsgate.. changing the skyline of the city.
I have seen other videos of financial district, but yours is definitely the best. Your perspective is so grand, feels like I am there. Thanks watched walker, I shall never be bored with London. Regards
Pagla, thanks as always, it means a lot to receive such positive comments.
Yes, quite relaxing for anyone to watch i would think, and i even like the way that the people passing don't look as if there is anything untoward in terms of machinery going on to get such a great video.
Interesting how you did it.
The new buildings and skyscrapers are amazing and they blend so well with the gorgeous traditional architecture of the city centre!!!I just love the contemporary design blending with the traditional style!!!Thank you for the tour mate!!!Wish I were there!!!
London is an interesting mix of old and new. The main streets still follow the same Roman road plan laid down 2,000 years ago. Walking around late at night can be very atmospheric!
WELL Done! A beautiful day and a great walk, it really captures the grand tour of the city. London is magical. I have not been down into where the tall buildings are so this was a treat. Thanks so much for posting.😀😀😀😀 -Henry
Thank you Henry, I really appreciate the comment - are you still up in Scotland?
Watched Walker left for Estonia today. Had a great time though. -Henry
That’s great to hear, I hope you have a lovely time during the rest of your trip.
Amazing to see again 😃😃 London
Great walk! So quiet on a Sunday afternoon not like it is on the weekdays.
Thank you! Yes, its so different without all the city workers around.
Permanent residents within the City of London only numbers around 5,000, and most them tend to go away at the weekends. So the City can be very quiet especially on Sundays!
London is my love city, have a nice day
It's a very beautiful walk 😊
I know - where I wanna go, whel I'll be in London 😊
Thank's for sharing 😊
You’re welcome, and thank you! :)
I find it hard to believe that you used an iPhone 6 to record this. This is top quality
Thanks a lot! And my iPhone 6 says thanks too ;)
fantastic
Simply sublime.
Thank you!
A perfect video of the City of London Mr Watched Walker, underlining why this is such a great place to enjoy a walk yet it is often overlooked by visitors. Particularly nice up and down movement on the Lloyd's building to get a fabulous shot there. And a hot summer's afternoon in September allows you to capture the reflective buildings against the blue sky. Just gorgeous:)
Thank you so much as always! There are some nice towers in that area, and more all the time. I think the blue sky really helps, it's just not the same on an overcast day.
@@watchedwalker Agreed, those grey buildings look REALLY grey against grey skies! Still can't believe what amazing quality you get off that iphone!
@@ChattyWalkswithAngela Thanks, the iPhone was playing up that day for some reason, so needed more cuts than usual!
Beautiful I always wanted to visit
Very nice.
loved this video!! Could you film pride in london 2019 like last year, please? If you want to of course
Thank you Joelle! I would have filmed Pride again this year, however, I won't be in London when it's taking place.
Please, make a video at Hampton Court Palace.
7:25 A lightly disturbing 10 seconds....
EASYTIGER10 how?
Это воскресенье,людей мало.Я жила в апартаментах 196 Bishops gate 3 года.Очень круто!!
The most newyorker corner of London.
Great👍👍👍
God bless you; in the name of the world savoir Jesus. I love your walks they are so awesome thank you.
No shaking like a lot of videos..

London is thousand times beautiful than Paris period!
Budapest is better than both.
@@thebabbler8867 No 😳
@@thebabbler8867 as a londoner I must say you both got a good point...
However Budapest has les varieties of architecture.....But London is so much better than Paris in REALITY....
Do the same thing but in Paris La Defense
Not quite the same, but I do have this one: czcams.com/video/AbdYx2G0T9o/video.html
La defense is more comparable to Canary Wharf in London
Not sure if you saw it but there might have been a ufo spotting at 15:05
Wow! I though The Scalpel had been finished years ago. What has happened? Has the developer run into some financial problems? What's the holdup?
@MrAeronuk1
Exactly, and it's not finished.
It's finished now.
😊👍❤
Can you film London's legal district, i.e. Temple?
agree. That area is often overlooked and represents most of Dicken's London. Architecture is very interesting around the Inns of court.
What's that noise at 0:55 ???
Ghost???
i had an ugly deja vu at minute 7:33
a lot of cement
Yes, the Romans kicked off with cement, some of the original Roman cement wall is still standing, and we're still using it today. Clever people the Romans.
@@ds1868 yes 🙄
Is this the real City of London where Lloyds of London, the world's entire insurance market and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry reside?
Yes, unless it's all an illusion!
o diverso se achando enfeite lindo na estatua o proprio davi de michelangelo kk
They want to look like New York city and eventually it will happen
London is the new manhattan in Europe
Old vid - defo from 2017/18, many of these skyscrapers are much taller now. Regardless, docklands has a better skyline in the uk anyway
The filming date is in the description as always.
Not one tower in Canary Wharf is as tall as 22 Bishopsgste at 912 feet. Canary Wharf is a mishmash of towers at the same height. There’s more iconic buildings in the city of London than docklands.
@@abertolucci9780 Umm... isn't that abit obvious since Bishopgate is the 2nd tallest building after the shard? Doesn't make it any better because its taller. It's still (your words) a mish mash of buildings of ridiculous shapes, just scattered around central london.
It would be better if they started building these new skyscrapers in that dump of no mans land that sits between the City & Canary Wharf. An ugly decrepit patch of London that has no right to occupy such a prime position. The Square mile doesn't need more buildings shadowing St Pauls and bankers need to be prepared to move a few feet East.
It doesn't.
They should have built the skyscrapers away from the City of London (Central London). The Skyscrapers in the background ruin the aesthetics of the great architecture in front of them. Should have build the Skyscrapers in clusters. They could have regenerated former derelict areas of the city by having the skyscrapers in clusters in those areas. Skyscrapers are better where there are wide roads, are among themselves. Also, most skyscrapers in a cluster should be traditional boxed skyscrapers and have few with more unique design which stand out. If you have every skyscraper with an unique design then you end up with a bland skyline because of a lack of symmetry.
*built
I disagree with you. ,😳
They already have done that, it’s an area in east London called canary wharf which features more traditional looking skyscrapers with wide roads and box shaped the unique ones in London are made to be more unique so they’re not hated as much by people who don’t like big box skyscrapers and they’re also made in strange shapes to avoid obstructing protected views like st pauls cathedral
They should build higher then in Moscow. Looks a bit provincial.
You are being a bad bear.
They can't. London has too many restrictions on tall buildings because of all the classic architecture
@@josephscott7239 I think they are limited due to the flight height restriction laws over London. You can't say it is because of classical buildings (most of them are very recent to be honest, less than 200 years, with the majority less than 100 years) because Moscow does has its dose of classical architecture but didn't prevent them from building most of the tallest towers in Europe.
he who is tired of london is tired of life
