  • I love RC ultra-micro parkflyers. They are so convenient. You can fly them almost anywhere, parks, baseball diamonds, parking lots, some of them even in your backyard. They are also relatively inexpensive and easy to store thanks to their small size. The new ones made out of EPP or EPO foams are quite resilient and almost indestructible (unless you manage to fly them into a tree or under a moving car).
There are so many different types and brands of parkflyers these days, hence the task of choosing the best one that fits your needs becomes quite challenging. If you are in the market for an absolute-beginner-friendly but also fun parkflyer, the 3-channel VolantexRC Mini Trainstar V761-1 RTF (ready-to-fly) package may be the right one for you. I purchased mine from Banggood.com back in January 2021 for about $50.70 shipped to my door. It arrived in less than 10 days from their U.S. warehouse. As of today (July 26, 2021), it is not at this low price anymore, but if you place it on your Wish List and wait for a while, its price may come down again at one point.

This little RC airplane has three control settings for different experience levels, namely beginner, intermediate and expert. The beginner and intermediate levels are stabilized by the built-in 6-axis gyro (actually 3 gyros and 3 accelerometers). The beginner mode only allows a maximum of 20-30 degrees of bank (i.e. ailerons) and pitch (i.e. elevator) angles and stabilizes the airplane for straight-and-level flight as soon as you let go of the control sticks. The intermediate mode still restricts the banks but allows full control of the elevator to perform loops and such, while still stabilizing the airplane. The expert mode seems to turn off all restrictions and stabilization, and the airplane become quite agile almost to the point of becoming an aerobatic airplane.
In this video, my son and I are doing the unboxing of this airplane and sharing our honest first impressions. We are also comparing it to our most favorite beginner parkflyer, the VolantexRC Sport Cub 500.
