  • In this video I'm in Lyme Regis in Dorset to take some sunrise photographs from the harbour wall (AKA The Cobb).. So join me in this 5 Minute Photo Adventure as I tell you about one of my favourite coastal locations to shoot landscape / seascape images. For me it's got to be one of the top / best locations to shoot photographs on the Dorset coast and the South West Coast Path. Just watch out for those waves!
    If you want to read more about my time at The Cobb and see even more images from my time there then head over to my blog at:

    If you're interested, here is some of the gear I used to make this video:
    Video shot with a Yi 4K+ (amzn.to/2i2VZ0h), a Sony RX100M4 (amzn.to/2eDyOIS)
    Audio recorded using a Rode Smartlav + (amzn.to/2wMJh8x) and a Zoom H1 (amzn.to/2gyGPfd)
    Aerial video captured using a DJI Mavic Pro (amzn.to/2kGfg8Y)
    Video edited in Adobe Premiere CC (amzn.to/2iX4la4)
    Images shot on a Nikon D850 (amzn.to/2eZiNxd) with a Nikkor 16-35mm f/4 (amzn.to/2w1aRTp), Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 VR (amzn.to/2DUUP0b)
    I also used these filters: Lee Filters 0.6 medium edge ND grad (amzn.to/2ByHve8) and a Lee Filters Cicrcular Polariser (amzn.to/2DMeCQq)
    Images processed in Adobe Lightroom CC (amzn.to/2eDw8uC).

    Julian, you do such a nice job of explaining why this is a good location and the elements that make it so. You are inspiring me to get back to the Lake Michigan shoreline. Best, Dave

    I really like your 5minute adventures, short, sweet, to the point & well presented. They are like a little bite size study note. Great pic as well. I was lucky enough to catch sunset there on New Year’s Day this year but ended up going b/w, hardly surprising but there was no one else there :)

      Thanks Gary, glad you like the 5 minute photo adventures. Not only are they easy to consume, but they are generally a lot easier to produce. It's a really popular location but not surprised it was quiet when you were there! :-)

    I was down on Dorset last year and I contemplated visiting the cobb and didn't end up bothering. I wish I had now! Nice vlog. My favourite shot is at 3.36, and I think it would make a superb monochrome!

      @jbairdexp  Před 6 lety

      Thanks Simon, I really appreciate that. Yeah, it can be a tricky place to shoot. It doesn't take very much wind and tide before the waves are crashing over the wall. Got to keep your eyes open! :-)

    Ah the Cobb, I can see why you like it so much. I liked both shots, it's good to see you getting the 'classic' shot in the bag and then trying something different. Also good to see you back out with the camera. Opening sequence was excellent.
