THE MURDER
Alice Wiltshaw's brutal death in Barlaston was described as the 'Murder Of The Century' The body of 62-year-old Alice Wiltshaw was discovered by her husband, Cuthbert, when he returned to their home, Estoril in Barlaston on Wednesday, July 16, 1952.
Cuthbert, a wealthy pottery manufacturer, had finished work for the day and returned to the 14-room mansion in the early evening. To his horror, he found Alice lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen.
The trail of blood, and other evidence, led police to the conclusion that Alice had initially been attacked in the kitchen, probably while she had been preparing the evening meal. The intruder had selected two heavy logs from the scullery and savagely beaten Alice about the head, knocking her senseless.
The assailant had then gone upstairs to steal property and rifle Alice’s handbag and, upon returning downstairs, had discovered that Alice had recovered consciousness and was now standing in the hallway. The attack began again as Alice tried to escape back towards the kitchen. Her assailant had followed her, hitting as he went.
All kinds of weapons had been used; vases, ornaments and finally a three-foot long barbed poker - all of which were found heavily bloodstained. Alice had finally made her way back to the kitchen and as she lay on the floor, dying, the callous killer had stabbed her through the head with the poker. He had also stabbed her in the stomach a number of times.
There were, however, clues for the police to examine. The killer had left behind a footprint and a pair of blood-stained gloves. As for the motive for this terrible crime, that was easy to determine. More than £3,000 worth of jewellery was found to be missing.
Staffordshire Police soon called in assistance from Scotland Yard and Detective Superintendent Reg Spooner was sent to take charge of the case. He soon determined that there was no sign of a break-in and the crime had taken place when the servants were all off-duty.
This suggested that the killer was someone Alice Wiltshaw knew and someone who knew the household routine very well indeed. This, in turn, suggested that an ex-employee would be the right kind of candidate.
One by one, all ex-employees were contacted and eliminated from the inquiry until only one name remained; one man who the police could not trace.
The prime suspect now appeared to be 29-year-old Leslie Green, an ex-borstal boy who had been employed by the Wiltshaws as a chauffeur-gardener. He had used his employer’s car without permission and had been dismissed for disobedience. All this had taken place just a few weeks before the murder. - Zábava

I think this field has been overrun by ppl who only go to locations to see if they can get an earthbound spirit to do tricks, but I got quite a sincere feeling when you said, "sweetheart." That was lovely. I think if you guys return, you'll allow them to familiarize themselves with you, and you'll find better results. Great job, guys!

I’ve lived in Barlaston all my life 50 plus years.
About the care home you mentioned.
Not sure if it was the murder house but either there or the nearby Wedgwood memorial college was used in World War Two for nursing injured soldiers returned home from the war.
Alice wiltshaws husband was the a Director of Carlton pottery.
Either the murder house or the memorial college nearby also in the same derelict state now was once the home of victor Johnson he was a director of Johnson Brothers potteryi
Until the early 1920s .
Full of pottery history Barlaston is.
Lots of pot bank owner once lived here the Meakins pottery owners lived in old Barlaston hall in the 1800s there’s a grave in the old church yard for family members. Also Wedgwood family.

Some odd, unexplained noises now and then and loads of water contaminating the investigation unfortunately. Brilliant watching as usual guys. Absolutely loved Mark's piano concerto at the end ❤️ 😂

The history definitely sets the atmosphere for the investigation in the location.
I wouldn't be surprised if this lady's spirit is trapped in this house. What an awful way to have your life ended like that😔

Best or creepiest thing caught to date. The broom can be explained away, but that mist/orb, what else do you need to categorically say "that's paranormal". You caught it guys, you got the Holy grail. Well done.
Another textbook investigation at a very well known location. Great banter, humour and absolute respect for the property and its former owners/occupants. It's a shame the carrier bag didn't make it for this outing or maybe I just missed it. Investigation result was more or less as usual but that never detracts from the end result. Nice to see the GhostTube app talking rubbish as usual, perhaps you could try it's interesting SLS function next time you are out and about 🙂

Mark, you could be a sensitive, I've watched loads of your videos and always thought you might be. You should get some crystals and put them under your pillow or bed, meditate etc. Same to you paul. You should both have protection crystals anyway, given the nature of your investigations...black tourmaline/ amethyst/ quartz on your person, selenite in your home and various crystals under your bed! I did try and stop it but I had the same issue and couldn’t get into the room where it was coming from. I heard that somebody stole the boiler and that’s why it’s like that. Idiots mate. I got chills all over after hearing what happened to this woman. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you guys will still get the most phenomenal evidence of what you are looking for. About that water is there anyway it could be turned off so it wont be just running. It dosent make sense to just let it run.

There used to be a boiler, and the copper wire thieves got in and gutted the boiler and everywhere else. that was quite a while ago and one of the reason's there is continuous water pouring out everywhere. I am surprised the water board haven't switched the water off, that is a significant amount of water lost over the years. It is quite a disgusting amount of water wasted.

Maybe it's time to take the superstition, folklore and myth out of the paranormal, lads?. Is there any logic in why a murder victim would haunt a crime scene? Why would an executed murderer return to haunt a crime scene?. The more I watch the truly legit channels like you guys, Dead Cold and Amy's Crypt etc, the less sense this sort of claim makes.
The Paranormal exists, of that there is no doubt in my mind, but every kosher investigation like this just reinforces my view that it's just the normal for which we currently don't have an explanation but, when we do, it'll be a scientific one. Keep on truckin', lads👍!

How long has that home been abandoned? There is an energy saver light bulb that is of current date in the kitchen ceiling. Those didn't exist at the time of that lady's untimely demise.
She was murdered in 1952 so yeah definitely not. I did mention in the video that this place was last a carehome but it had been many other things throughout the years since 1952 👍

Don't try to debunk everything too much, we hear and see what is going on. I am also a ghost hunter myself, but I only help people who have some problems with ghosts.. But you are so kind to them. But you have to ask things first to get them to do something when you notice someone is there. How would you feel if a ghost hunter came for the umpteenth time and asked, could you do this or that for me? I'd let you run.I like you guys. And how you try to be so kind to the spirits.
