An Intimate Look At Renee Fleming

- In 1996, Renee Fleming signed with London Records. I was commissioned to do a bio of her. I wanted to show who she was, her family roots and what made her a great performer. Renee was very open, wonderful to work with and it was such a pleasure to be with her while she recorded. Soon after, her career took off to an extraordinary level. Renee Fleming became the most famous contemporary opera singer in the world. I recently viewed this bio I directed of her 16 years ago. It's interesting to see her before she became the international star she is now.

She's so free and open in these interviews, much more so than she is today (much more reserved, pulled back, a more professional tone, etc). I love this! Thanks so much for sharing. the reason she became a true no1 is because she realized how boring Opera can be - so was Callas, her main aim always was not to let the audience sleep... This art form that can be the most incredible art form can also be the most boring if sung badly
