- 2 Mile Long Norfolk Southern Train With DPU On CSX Tracks, Chasing Loram Rail Grinder & CSX Southbound Train On Northbound Directional Running Track. Watch The Signal Drop As Huge CSX Train With DPU Locomotive Passes. Norfolk Southern And CSX Trains In Glendale, Ohio And Hamilton, Ohio. This Is The CSX Toledo Sub.
Chasing the Loram Rail Grinder and getting to see it in operation at a railroad crossing. This Loram train is used for switches and railroad crossings and follows after the longer Loram train passes.
The train in Glendale, Ohio are at a No Train Horn Zone railroad crossing. This video shows the signal changing from green to red very well. This is called knocking down the signal, railroad jargon. The tracks in Glendale are directional running with exceptions. These tracks are used by NS and CSX trains primarily running north. A couple miles to the east is the Norfolk Southern line that is primarily south and used by both lines.
Look how long a couple of these trains are! All kinds of cool stuff in this video and a bunch of railfans also. Glendale is a popular railroad city for the railfans. Don't miss the Live Action Pets near the end and the slide show that comes from the video.
Filmed Friday, April 5, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

That two miles long train with the DPU'S and the rail grinders were
really awesome to see, knocking down the signals is always great,
with the CSX and Norfolk Southern Trains as well all there in Ohio
also of course the awesome live action pets and the slide show
Thank You Jaw Tooth and have a wonderful Memorial Day.
🇺🇲🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲
Thank you very much!
A CSX mixed manifest was absolutely incredible!!! 198 cars!! It had I ust about everything on it. It had 2 new box cars wiyh no graffiti, lots of lumber cars, and coil steel.the steel cars included some with only 2 coils that had to be near 100,000 pounds each. Those are massive, believe me! I'm very impressed. What a catch, JT!! Amazing. 😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh wow! I knew it was long but 198 cars is insane! Thanks for watching!
I love your videos Jawtooth
@@marissacjones09 thanks!
The Grinder is so cool.
I agree. Its always awesome to find it
stupid question, what exactly is a rail grinder?
It grinds the top of the rail so there's no problem later on with wheels getting flat spots @@lawrencedruckman5958
Those Loram Railgrinders are something else!
Always a treat finding them
Excellent, Location and Catch. MASSIVE CATCH.👍🐶🐱
Thank you very much!
One of those Loram rail grinders was being used on the CSX Main at Greencastle, Indiana just a few weeks ago.
I love when you catch the grinders. Even if they aren't grinding. They look so cool!
I agree. I got the longer grinder sitting on a siding in Carlisle Ohio
Happy birthday Chessie. Awesome video Brian.
The rail grinder was cool, JT! And the NS mixed freight was fabulous! 150 cars long including 5 new box cars with no graffiti. That's hard to believe! They must have had them hidden somewhere. 😂 That was a great catch, my friend! 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Morning everyone. What up Jawtooth? I missed a double dpu a few days ago. Sadly
Have a great day JT and good morning from Scotland 😊
You too! Thanks for watching!
@@JawTooth Thanks JT your welcome 😊👍
Fun video Jaw Tooth. I love the good natured banter between you and the other rail-fans. Thanks and I hope you have a great day in whatever you do. Anthony
Thanks, you too!
Grinder sparks show ! Cool (I guess they have back up and go over twice at crossings)
Happy Birthday Chessie 🎉❤
Thanks for watching!
My husband and I love your videos! His birthday is next Sunday, 6/2, and I was wondering if you could say happy birthday to Mike in the video you post that day. We like to watch in the morning while we’re eating breakfast before church. Please and thank you! 😊🚂🚇
Thanks for watching my videos! I will give him a shout out. Not sure which video it will be in since I have a few in the process. Have a great holiday!
This was a spectacular video JT!! I Enjoyed it very much, and I can't thank you enough. A perfect way to spend part of my Sunday afternoon! We'll chat real soon. Àt least I hope so! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@JawTooth I sure did. It was fabulous 👌.
Happy birthday, Chessie. What an awesome train 🚆 video from Brian. I hope that you feel better soon.
Thank you very much!
Man, the Rail Grinders seem to be the closest thing we have to a European-like Locomotive, especially the cab, and nice job getting the other catches also! Some were interesting to say the least.
Cool, thanks!
I like seeing new boxcars with no graffiti. Nice catches Mr JT. Enjoyed this.❤ We liked that rail grinder It was very cool.😊 DPU I see you! Yes! 👍 Thanks ❤😊
Thanks for watching!
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains, including the Loram, railgrinder, I like them, they're awesome, @JawTooth, Brian, thank you very much.
Thanks!
@@JawTooth You're very welcome, Brian.
Happy Birthday Chessie. Love the soccer games, live action pets, stills, wow that 2 mile train. Take some stills of your meals for the end too. Beaitiful town.
Thanks so much!! She is one year older than I said. She is now 5
Love seeing longer trains it is cool to see what they are carrying too great video as always JT
Thank you very much!
That's a pretty good spark show, JT! 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Awesome action JT, two 2 mile long trains one with all EMD power, both with hard working DPUS, signal getting knocked down plus a rail grinder in action, those are so cool to watch at night. Gotta keep up the maintenance. Nice job JT.👍🏼P.S. Happy Birthday Chessie!!😂🎉
Thanks for watching! She is 5, I think I said 4
@@JawTooth your welcome JT, she’s a very beautiful dog.👍🏼
Great video
JawTooth
Have a great Memorial Day
Thanks! You too!
I caught that CSX Locomotive 4749 SD70Macc rebuild in Pittsburgh Pa last weekend. It was a mid train DPU. Great catches. Stay safe out there.
Thanks, you too!
Great work Jaw Tooth. Chessie has the same birthday as me. (although I turned 50 this year).
I agree with you JT,boxcars my favorite. Really neat to see no graffiti, and always love finding fallen flags!
Cool, we both think alike
3257 is listed as a N.O.S. liquid above 212 F with a flash point above that. It is highly flammable and will explode easily when mixed with air.
It doesn't say specifically what is in it, but likely a sodium or lithium substance.
I always have my ERG book in my nightstand.
Being that train has PanAm and Guilford cars, it is most likely heading to Mechanicville NY and through the Hoosick Tunnel to Massachusetts and north from there.
It's a really good idea to have a pocket size Emergency Response Guide book in the glove box.
Thank You Jaw Tooth and the monster trains! Good Day
Have a nice day
Great catches as always JT! Long-time sub and viewer, first time commenting. I love the way you explain things to us newbies! Thanks a lot, stay safe out there and we'll see you out on the high iron!
Awesome, thank you!
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
Thanks a ton!
Great video Jaw Tooth, its nice to see box cars with no graffiti on them, and those Pan Am box cars i offen spot them here in New Jersey i must mentioned i like the locations you film giving a little history of the towns.
Great epic video getting rail grinders and some excellent trains my dad will watch it tonight
Hope you enjoyed it!
Glad to see Trackside Pub. When I lived in Metairie La. we used to frequent the pub next to the tracks that had one dollar shots when the train passed. I think I remember enjoying the place.
Thanks for watching!
bloody long trains mate
Thanks for watching!
Wow great video JT. Lots of un marked cars and new cars. Thanks for sharing and God bless. PS: I always loved track side inn
Thanks 👍 I like eating there upstairs and waiting for trains
I used to. Thanks Brian
Wow! That 2 mile long train only had 2 locomotives. Impressive!
Thanks for watching!
Hey jaw tooth awesome catch of rail grinding train. Something you don't see every day. They should put some tables outside the restaurant so you can eat outside and watch trains same time. Have a great railroad day. 🚂🙋♀️
That would be cool! They do have some upstairs that are in an enclosure but you can see the tracks
Hi Brian! I loved to see Loram Rail Grinder! Really Cool machine!
Me too!
@@JawTooth 👍
That was one long freight train. great as always video.
Thank you very much!
Great video JT! Cool catch on the rail grinder!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸
Thank you very much!
Just what I needed this morning 😊!
So glad!
Good morning 🌞🌄
Good morning!
Great catches great freight action as the rail grinder great video thanks Brian
Thank you very much!
I miss the old D&H searchlight signals. You could see them over a mile away in the daytime.
The little LED ones even with the hoods are impossible to see unless you are right in front of them.
I like the older signals better also. They keep getting replaced with Safetran signals that all look alike and you can barely see the lights. I know where some more old style lights are that I am going to film
Another excellent mixed freight. It included some of my favorites, coil steel. It alsohad LP gas and possibly asphalt, although the UN nuber applies to many substances. And there was an oversized log or utility pole car. It had lots of box cars, icluding some vintage ones, which were cool. Thanks for the great train, JT! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Excellent video JT
Thanks 👍
Great video JT. Love that rail grinder. Would be awesome to see late afternoon or early evening if was working then. Thats a great railfanning spot near that Pub.
Thanks 👍 I saw it at night one time in Cresson and it lit the place up. I also got it in action in Columbus Ohio
Wow great video I'll bet those rails are hot after that track grinder gets done grinding.
Great catches and cool video
Thank you very much!
The trains you caught at Glendale, Ohio on 5 April 2024 had a good mix of different freight cars in their consists, Jaw Tooth! The former Pan Am Railroad boxcars were a surprise sight. The short LORAM rail grinder for use on crossings and switches was a bonus. Thank you for including the sequence of the sort LORAM rail grinder working on grinding the rail on that one road crossing.
Thanks for watching and commenting Thomas!
Fine video JT. Long trains moving. New boxcars. Good to hear you still like your favorite restaurant. Happy Birthday Chessie. Hi to Brandy and Loki. Thank you JT. ❤
Thanks 👍
Hi Jaw & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Jaw & Friends Randy
Hello Randy! Thanks for being here
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! 🌟
Awesome trains, those were Hamilton standards. If you want a train to come go in and order food, you'll get one😂. When I'm in my car, if I want to look at my phone I'll get all green lights, if I don't I'll get all red lights🤬 hopefully the food quality stayed the same? Go Lilly! Thanks for the video Brian stay well roll on
Yes, the food is the same and they have the same menus. The only change is that they took down the flags. Thanks again for your support Mark! Another gallon and a half in the tank! I really appreciate it and I know what you mean with the phone, if I look at mine a train will pop up and I will miss the gates going down or something lol
As a kid, other than getting to drive a train when I was 8yrs old in nearby yard, watching them grind the tracks was one my favorite time and especially at night. It would be cool to get video of the track before and after they did some grinding. We lived next to tracks for over 20 yrs. and my grandmother and I got to know quite a few of the engineers and when stopped my grandmother would go out and feed them (had me take the food since she was older). I have awesome memories and for a while thought that it might become my job but ended up doing drawing for living.
Awesome, my dream was to live by the tracks when I was a kid! You had it made. Are the tracks still there today and was it a busy line?
@@JawTooth Yes, tracks still there. The scary part is used to walk them back and forth to town and school. Now though the difference is the trains go both ways on both tracks. Back then the right was north and left was south but not anymore. Very dangerous now compared to then. But, you get to see more trains than back then.
Did you put your meal on hold tooth? 🤣🤣That’s dedication Son!
Heck yeah! It will be there when I get back
Nice job, catching Those trains jaw tooth Keep it up please
D-P-U-I-C-U, Love the videos of the rail grinders, you got a horn salute in a no horn zone, man you really rate! I'm sitting here watching trains, waiting on the D-P-U-I-C-U call. Nice videos today Jaw.
Thank you very much!
I think the rail grinder is just out for a joy ride. lol 😜
That's one of your favorite spots to shoot video of trains
Yes it is a great place and has a lot of railfans
Lots of action with the Loram rail grinder equipment, NS and CSX with mid helper DPUs!🛤🚂
I enjoyed that video👍👍
Thanks 👍
That. Awesome. Got. Some. Great. Catch. Of. Good. Stuff
Thanks 👍
Great video
Thanks!
Those coils can weigh up to 50,000 pounds each.
I love Glendale JT, you get some awesome trains going through there. Just a great view of the trains. Perfect for railfans. Fab first train you caught there mixed manifest with awesome dpu. It was a good one! Nice to see Scott at the other side of the camera! Pan am box car was cool! You got some fab trains that day. That grinder gives off sparks! Awesome Y'all take care tonight( Sunday) bad weather might be coming to South Ohio stay safe. ❤😊👍🙏
Thank you very much! It was a lot of fun. There are always railfans there
This video is excellent ❤
Thanks!
Good video Jawtooth
Thanks!
Happy Memorial Day Mr. and Mrs. Tooth. Remember the ones who gave it all. 😊
Howdy Brian & gang.. Hope yall are havine a wonderful holliday weekend..
You too!! Thanks for watching!!
That’s one crazy train I am still looking forward to going to a depot to see what happens to a train that size 🇬🇧❤️🇺🇸👏
That would be cool!
Just watching all those trains works up an appetite. I'm glad you caught the rail grinder in the dull light to really show those sparks flying. @5:00 the Centex Center beam that has hauled more wallboard than lumber and now works in a lease Fleet. Hard to believe with all those Freights there were no unit trains of coal but especially no Intermodal or auto racks. Celebrate the holiday wisely
We rarely see a coal train in the Glendale and Hamilton areas. It has dried up and become rare. I am spending the holiday with the family. Thanks for watching Paul and have a great holiday!
Good Afternoon Jaw Tooth.
Hello William!
The trackside pub is the name of the old cock and bull restaurant JT but anyway, my friend another awesome video and as always you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one
I think that when a tanker says "HOT" on it that it's filled with liquid sulfur. Good car to stand near when it's cold outside!
Good one!
Thanks!
Awesome 😎 Those SD70MACS are always great to catch to bad ns got rid of the sd80macs
Yes indeed!
Manifests Galore!
Good morning Steve!
Wow 2.5 miles long awesome 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Moving a mountain of freight!
Nice Video
Thanks!
#DPU always sound like it is the *"Hardest Working Engine"* 💥💪🏼💥
For sure!
Pretty great video...like the grinding...like I said before some of the graffiti is quite talented...they should pursue it rather than destruction behavior...thanks JT
Most definitely
Cool.
One train 198 cars ,unbelievable..
Love the rail grinder. Fascinating to watch. And all crossings should have four gates. Maybe it would stop the gate runners. And I wish all the crossings had the mechanical bells back. Anyway great video and have a nice day 😊🌈
I agree with you on the mechanical bells. They just add something cool to the scene
Is that a VHF loop antenna or a PTC 220 MHz loop antenna ?
UN number 3257 refers to the transport of „HEATED LIQUID, N.O.S., at or above 100 °C and below its flashpoint“. This means liquids held at or above 100 °C and having an important point: Their flash point is below this temperature. These substances require special attention and safety measures during transport.
DPU I see you lol
1075 is LPG ( propane )
The name of the Restaurant was Cock & Bull Public House in Glendale Village.
Per Channel 12 News report:
Cock & Bull Public House has closed its Glendale location after nearly two decades in business. The restaurant and pub, located at 775 E. Sharon Road, shuttered Feb.18, 2024. According to a social media post, "new ownership will be opening soon" at the location.
That train with 736 axles sure must of cleaned out Queensgate for sure JT
Yup, they emptied the yard! I have filmed a couple trains in the 900s. One of these days I might get one over a thousand
@@JawTooth good luck with getting 1000🙂
UN 3257, ELEVATED TEMPERATURE LIQUID, N.O.S., at or above 100 °C and below its flash-point (including molten metals, molten salts, etc.), filled at a temperature not higher than 190 °C
UN 1075 LPG.
Cool
Thanks!
The rail grinder sat in Carlisle for a day. I talked to a worker and he said that they mostly grind at night. Lower humidity.
Yeah and probably less trains at night. I saw one at night in Cresson Pa
I tend to find rail grinders a rare find. Still cool to see them on occasions!
Are they in a no horn zone? I never heard them honk at the crossings.
He did not care to blow the horn at all😂😂
Good video! Thanks for all the live action! That was pretty nice to get that old Pan Am box car. Were you able to get some relief for your mouth discomfort? I didn’t understand what you said the name of the procedure was? Have a great Memorial Day!
Yes I did get a little bit but it still hurts. I think the pain is going to be permanent. The procedure is called the All On Four. I should have never done it. Anyway thanks for watching my videos!
I looked that procedure up to see what it involved. Holy Crap! That sounds awful. I don’t think I could ever go through that. I don’t have good teeth and my front right tooth crosses over the top of my left tooth a little. I’m very self conscious about it and avoid talking to people because of it. I hope you had a good surgeon do your work. Sounds like it might take 6 months to heal good. Maybe as the weeks go by it will slowly get better. Thanks again for the videos even though you’re not feeling great!
@@michaeleingle3812 I'm going to have to call them again. Last night I was eating jelly beans and something broke. I think the bottom plate broke in the back. I thought it was a screw at first. That really hurt. I should have known better. I knew not to eat peanuts. Getting this procedure done was the biggest mistake of my life. I had all 20 of my teeth removed because I was tired of getting tooth aches and my bottom teeth were crooked. I should have just done some implants. I was going to film trains today but if I just touch the back of the bottom plate it hurts. I broke it late last night while working on a video. When the wife gets home today I want to have her look at it and then call them to replace the bottom plate. They never told me all the negatives of getting the All On Four. I didn't think it would be a big deal but man was I wrong. Don't worry about what your teeth look like just take care of them.
Wow I’m really sorry to hear the bad news! I sure hope they are able to help you! It would be so enjoyable to get out there and record the trains and not have to think about the discomfort in your mouth. If things get really bad can they remove the posts and then you can get regular dentures? My wife and I are going up to Carey Ohio sometime soon to visit family. I’m looking forward to a visit to the Fostoria Iron Triangle. I watch it a lot on the Railfan Live site. Take care and I hope Mrs. Tooth can see what’s going on in there🧐
Morning brother i worked in Boston i rode on one Noisy but kool Kool video 👍🏽
