    'Nun liebe Kinder, gebt fein Acht' = Now dear children, pay attention........'Ich bind die Stimme aus dem Kissen' = I am the voice from the pillow'..........Till portrays the "Sandman", who has the power to deliver children from the monsters in their nightmares OR allow their terror to continue until the 'bright light shines from Heaven' in the morning ( ein heller Schein am Firmament ).....while terrifying, the Sandman actually cares for children, which explains the sadness and tears while he sings......and why his smile is so painful.......'Mein herz brennt' = my heart burns.......

    There is an old animated series in german tv. The sandman. For preschool kids. He always uses a phrase very similar to the starting verse in this song here. But it always starts a nice little story for the kids. This sandman here tells about nightmares creeping out of the basement and tears of fears the children have are the drug for this sandman. As i understand the text. There is another story from the poet E.T.A. Hoffmann with the same title where the monster tears out the eyes of the children and feeds them to its pups.

    • @iramage2235
      @iramage2235 Před rokem

      till sings about demons, faeries etc that will come and get the children, take their hot tears and push them into sandmans veins but in return he rips his chest open and gives his burning heart back to the children and sings until the sun comes up again. so the sandman is kinda the protector of the children at night? idk, that's how I took it.

    Indeed, the cuts on his body are real, Till often commits himself physically to find his inspiration and the makeup is the result of removing the mask after recording the video of the original version of this same song, the product was excited to see it and convinced the band to record this version. I now had a close look again at the actual video. As a former carpenter and active viking fighting reenactor (when fighting some certain amount of pain is good BTW, turns you up more), I have had a LOT of cuts. Till seems to have scars- looks like there is one in the video across his right pectoral- but those "cuts" are not cuts. A cut ALWAYS has an angry red inflammation and welt around it; basically the body's repair mechanisms as I understand it, the ones in the video does not have these, so they are not real cuts. As far as I know, this clip, like its other version, was filmed in an abandoned psychiatric hospital, in which prisoners were burned during the Second World War (a stairs in the middle of the room leads to a furnace) At the end of the clip, Till goes down the stairs and after a while smoke rises from there. If you know this, then the song takes on a completely different meaning. Especially the title (My heart burns)

    • @JakobFischer60
      @JakobFischer60 Před 3 lety +19

      That is a bit to much. The place is the bath of the Beelitz Heilstätten near Berlin. It was build as a hospital for lung diseases and used during the wars as a military hospital. Hitler was there during WW1 to cure his gas injuries. It was used by the russians after ww2 and abandoned when they left Germany in 1990. It was a neurological rehab center thereafter but not for long. The stairs go into the bath, a furnace would make no sense here. It is true that psychiatric patients were killed in Germany during the Nazi time but that was done at other places.

He's also said they're from his onstage antics with Flake. Elsewhere he's evaded the question. Even the director of the music video doesn't know what caused them, Till didn't give him the wings story but wouldn't say, but he has been known to self harm so that's a real possibility.

    I think if the scars on Till's body are real, they're more likely to have been caused by accidents with the pyrotechnical displays. I heard he became a qualified pyrotechnician in the bands early days because there were some incidents with explosives and fire.
