St Peter's Brighton Bells Test Ring 16th December 2022

- After nearly three years of silence the bells of St Peter's, Brighton, will ring out in all their glory to celebrate the coming of Christmas this Sunday 18th December 2022.
Before that ringing can take place an inspection of the bells took place, with accumulated dust and debris being removed, along with a detailed look at the fixtures and fittings to ensure nothing had deteriorated since they were last rung.
With final sign off received from the Structural Engineer each bell was rung up and down this afternoon. No issues to report, each bell going well, and the ropes were in great condition thanks to the underfloor heating in the ringing room.
Here is the Tenor being raised by yours truly, and the 9th and Tenor being lowered this afternoon.

No, unfortunately not. The original clock mechanism which did was removed in the 1960s and replaced by a simple electric drive.
