This is so true. When did that change?
Some characters have high recovery so u can jump a few frames after seeing the fire ball. But with guile the moment the boom leaves his hand it is too late
I think what influenced me the most against turtles was how Itazan faced Daigo: lots of patience and defy the fireball, outright walk and be patient that will change the way the opponent thinks

Great video. I love that you emphasize not getting frustrated. Playing against zoners and turtles is always going to be a bit slower than say a rush down character but that doesn’t mean it is objectively less fun! There’s a big sense of satisfaction you get when you do finally get in or jump a fireball, it’s all about mindset. You are the cat and they are the mouse!

Some characters also have special moves that let them go through the fire balls, like Ryu and Ken's tatsumaki and Marisa's DP, and you could use those moves to keep up the pressure while bypassing the fireballs. Still need good reads though.

I find the concept of a "surprise" Drive Impact while cornered very funny because it's almost never a "surprise" lol
In the lower ranks I just bully people into the corner to bait a DI, counter it with my own and get a full punish into super
Things get harder at master rank when people mix up their options more. Low rank players are almost always very predictable
Thank you for the video, it is very helpful! As a platinum 4 player I am also a bit curious if there is a solution for players that are jumping in combination with hard kick/ hard punch all the time. Do they have a specific name, too? Such as those "turtles". I am not that familiar with the video game language but I would call these players "frogs", cause they just keep jumping and playing super random.

The best way to beat those players is to anti-air them using a special move, like a shoryuken because they are invulnerable against jumping attacks. If you need more specific advice come and ask me when I’m streaming on twitch!
If you can hard read a fireball with Zangief, you can hold HK, 3mp, lariat (or even borsche dynamite) for like 35%+ of his life...
That’s true! There are many character specific punishes possible but I focused on universal options in this video
Well Guile is not as annoying as JP and especially Dhalsim, whenever I am up against him I just give up! Also you mentioned Chun Li I wouldn’t consider her a heavy zoner
I think chun is def a heavy zoner. Fireball into walk forward or drive rush can be a free space control/get in for free strategy

And how do you beat the frog players? They only hold up back or up forward and as marisa that's so fucking annoying to fight against...
You have to anti-air them constantly. Marisa can anti-air but she needs to work a bit harder to do it than other characters
