Thanks Harri and Daniel for this great song by Bob Seger. Chevrolet sold a ton of trucks using Bob's song. And because it happened to be at a rough time for autoworkers, Bob donated much of the proceeds for the unemployed autoworkers. He is a class act and he is revered in the Midwest, especially his home state Michigan.
Thanks for the great comments. He is a working class hero. He is a Midwesterner for sure. I remember listening to him on CKLW back in the sixties. 🙃👍🇺🇸🇨🇦🇬🇧🤴
@@danielvolk237 I'm a little younger--I was growing up in northwest Ohio listening to CKLW in the 70's! So much great music, and Seger was one of the absolute best.
An older man, remembering what he was like as a young man in his prime. We all go through this as we age, and wish we were still young, and our bodies felt better than they do now. Very insightful song that we can, and will all experience some day, if we live into our golden years. God Bless everyone
'Cantabile' - A musical term often used in classical music that means to play the instrument as if it were a voice singing. If that guitar work isn't a perfect example of this, then I don't know what is. The guitar and piano work in this song is fantastic.
This is from Bob's album, "Like a Rock" from 1986. He wrote it at the end of an 11 year relationship. He said it made him realize that the best years were your late teen years when you have no job and no commitments. Bob's vocals in this song are so raw and emotion packed, displaying his brilliance. The guitars,🎸🎸🎸 piano and drums, blend into the lyrics with a perfect collaboration. Harri, I love your personal adlibs, you're such a great Bestie. 😊 Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Daniel. A Masterpiece. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
That slide guitar is brilliant. There's a point in the video that shows the train going by and the guitar sounds like a train whistle. Using the train going by as a metaphor for his past is cool. And, yet life goes on...in a vintage Corvette no less.
Great story teller… singer/songwriter! Got to see him in concert in 2005 with the great Joe Walsh joining him for part of the concert.. it was amazing! All his songs bring wonderful memories from my youth.. thanks for posting.
I am 65 and my brother is 70.We have nothing in common except we love this "old" music. He has had it rough at times. When u said listen to it in the right way...that was very good.Good old song.thank u.
Daniel V - "Like a Rock" is one of many songs showcasing Bob Seger's distinct and exceptional vocals. Daniel, this was a terrific choice to submit and share. I can never get enough Bob Seger. For me, this was an A+ submission and performance. Harri, your review was spot-on and quite enjoyable.
Thanks so much DaveBZen. I loved this song even before the Chevy Truck commercials. 😉. I liked "Heavy Music" which was one of my first Seger hits from long ago. Thanks again my friend.
Its how you felt at 18, indestructible, immortal. Then you grow up and experience the reality. This song was featured in many commercials, I think one was a truck commercial.
Bro, I cry every time I hear this song... I'm crying right now. I got sick at a young age and life took me out of the game at 36 so... This song has so much relevance in my life. And tell me that the solo at the end does not speak to you....
Bob Seger is a great rock singer, songwriter & musician known for his raspy powerful voice. He wrote & recorded songs that dealt with love, women & blue-collar themes. You've done quite a few of his songs. Other great songs from the 70's-80's are "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Hollywood Nights", "Mainstreet", "You'll Accomp'ny Me", "Shame On The Moon" etc.
The song really does speak to youth and how strong we are in pretty much every way. You’re not jaded and your entire life is in front of you. You can handle the weight of anything.
When are you going to do She don't know she beautiful by Sammy Kershaw ( this is the song for my birthday that I let my husband Charles Twigg Jr. pick)
We were all 18 at one time, and it was a magic time, but like everything else in life its transiet. Here today, and gone tomorrow. Those people who are 18 now enjoy and celibrate every day of that time because it will disapear so fast it will make your head spin.
Has anyone ever told you if you cut your hair short you would look like Morgan (Lennie James) from the walking dead show? Lol great reaction! Keep up the good work.
Its a shame we have to get old. Just when we are old enough to have learned everything we need to know we are too old to enjoy it. I always said we need two lifetimes one to learn from our mistakes, and the second one to live it right.
What a sweet tribute to your aunt! Thank you for sharing your memory! I remember when Bob cut his beautiful long black hair. People went bonkers!!! Great reaction! Love from Texas!!!
Love this song and the older i get the more i empathise with it. But a mixed metaphor in the lyrics always makes me smile: Standing arrow straight, like a rock 😊 xxx
Always liked Bob, but as I've grown older , I appreciate him even more. His songs and lyrics carry a weight of emotion and meaning in a way no other artist can IMO I'm in my early '50s now and I have a young daughter. Like anyone who's made it this far has, I've seen and been through some real s*** in my life. Both good and bad. Mr seger's music shines a light on and presents a window into those that are as undeniable as they are special. When it slows down and he says "20 years now where'd they go, 20 years I don't know... I sit and I wonder sometimes where they've gone" ... That's the good stuff right there
Some claim this is a very self involved story. I think its just trying to convey the feelings you have when you get to the downgrade and got not much left but reminiscing. I was a rock years ago, i can be still. Dunno, just thinks about reliving the past because the present sucks.
Absolutely brilliant: his voice and the two guitars solis. Bob released two fantastic live albums: part rock, part ballad, just a good mix. With Jackson Browne, Tom Petty, Warren Zevon ..., for me it was the US songwriters as Central Europeans of the 79+80s✌
The older you get, the more you relate to this song.
i concur
"20 years now, where'd they go ?"
I'm pushing 70. I'm wondering the same thing !
From one Lisa to another me at 59 shit I can definitely relate! Sending my love and wonderful memories!
20 years…now 40 years.
@@fotosbyduane I sit and I wonder, where they've gone.
This is one of those songs that you don’t need a video. You just close your eyes and listen.
💯
True, but the official video is one of the best ever presentations rich in visual metaphor.

That makes sense. I always thought of this song as our youth. When we were young and strong....like a rock!

Yes. Rick Vitto absolutely kills on this classic track.

This song pays tribute to my husband.
My favorite Bob Seger song is "Shame on the Moon." Maybe you can listen to that one next.
One of my favorites, more so as I get older
Love this song. And only gets better
Its how you felt at 18, indestructible, immortal. Then you grow up and experience the reality. This song was featured in many commercials, I think one was a truck commercial.
The slide guitar on this is one of my favorite guitar solos of all time. Just brilliant.
The Chevy commercials is what I remember about this awesome song
Music from the Hartland..🇺🇸❤🇺🇸

As George Bernard Shaw said, youth is wasted on the young…😂

Hey Cyn😉 Thanks for the comment. You had some great songs this month. 🙃👍🇨🇦🇺🇸🇬🇧🤴
Bob gives amazing vocals. He knows how to paint a clear picture for us.
The music arrangement is brilliant.
This song is nothing short of an ANTHEM for those of us who have had to wrestle with what life has thrown at us- Bob is a 'working class hero'!!
React to Bob Seger's "2+2".
Great reaction bud.
I remember when I thought I was invincible - a long time ago
Chevy used this song for their trucks for over 10 years. As soon as I was old enough, I bought a Chevy truck.❤

This is my favorite Seger song. It never got much air play back in the day but I'd always crank it up when it came on.
When the time comes for you to meet your Auntie again, sing this for her.
Amazing song and great commentary. With life you have to be like a rock sometimes.
Chevy trucks baby!
Great song and a very heartfelt reaction. Thanks for posting!
Sublime lyrics with a voice to match!
Bob is st his best vocally on this famous tune!
Your Aunt was a shinning example what we can take. Like A Rock!
Harri....you need to see "Hi Ren"...it's a thing.
I love his songs and his voice, so awesome!!
I feel compelled to buy an inferior Chevy truck...you know Seger is great if he can talk you out of the greatest truck on earth!
He is backed up by some very good musicians. Lol understatement.

Thanks Harri. Rick Vito has to have done one of the greatest guitar solos ever here. Twice in one song!
Feels like a Chevy commercial
Makes me want to buy a Chevy!
I know that I'm way late to the party and that you probably won't even see this comment. But you really need to react to "2+2?" Bob Seger System
Classic, still got the album on vinyl.
Seger GAVE this song to General Motors when the car industry was in trouble. They used the Like A Rock part for their truck ads.
Love the guitar 👏👏
Chevy Truck theme song
Urge to buy a Chevrolet truck rising...
Would love if you'd react to Pyro by kings of leon, only ever seen reactions to sex on fire or use somebody.
Great song, never liked the music video. Seger's words alone are good enough without the navel gazing models.
I was somethin to see
This song came across at a fortuitous time of my life. Thank God for Bob seger! Peace!
