season 3 is my favorite season in every aspect. i think it has the best animation and funniest episodes. it does have a slightly higher amount of duds than season 2. but no episodes id consider bad
Snowball effect is an S-tier for me. I don't really see the season 3 problem as a "problem" at all, as it makes for more dialogue and gag-related content and humor. This one is actually beautifully animated, such as Squid's fireplace, and I enjoy this style of episode a lot. Do not consider it a problem.

Yeah I agree with what you said at the end, Season 2 looks much better than Season 3. Season 3 looks faded while Season 2 is vibrant and colorful. The animation seems more stiff in Season 3 too.
It never bugged me, how darker the became in season 3. Or how animation slighty became less 'energetic' this is tiny little problems that never made a reaction in my eye, also "Artist Unknown" is a special episode, it just commentaries that how art schools kills your passionate about art

The Sponge who could fly is literally the opposite for me, I far prefer the Patchy segments over the actual episode, it has nothing special and it feels so much like a postmovie episode, poor humor and an unnecessary mean tone at the end. At least Patchy looking for the lost episode, freaking out over the walk cicle and the walk cicle itself are really enjoyable to watch
the sponge who could fly is carried by the patchy segments imo, they’re actually my favorite patchy segments in the entire show, too bad they’re tied to arguably the worst pre-movie episode with its compietion being krabby land which is also awful
