Another crazy thing defensively, is that he doesn't foul. Isn't he averaging more blocks than fouls? He's getting all these crazy stops without fouling
It's crazy that with how hyped Wemby was coming into the league that he's actually exceeding expectations. Kind of reminds you of how Lebron actually lived up to the chosen one moniker.
Another thing is his maturity and passion. He's serious. He didn't care that he got a 5x5 game, he's pissed off when he loses. He has a competitive fire and a want to be great
I've been saying, he's not going to change the NBA like Curry, or Dirk, or LeBron, or MJ. He can't because what makes him so special and unique is his physical stature combined with his skills. We're not likely to see that combination ever again. Welcome to the Wemby era.
And let's not sleep on the fact that he's doing this with the entire NBA landscape watching his every move, and having to relocate his entire life overseas. Those are huge external factors that would distract a less-focused talent.
Wemby is so good so fast and gets better every game feel bead for Chet because in most years he would be the guy we're talking about the most because he's got all star upside as a rookie, but this class is just stacked
Notwithstanding the fact that Wemby is a fantastic player, isn't it a bit disingenuous to compare the numbers to other eras without mentioning the league wide stat inflation that has been the signature of 2024? There are 46 players averaging 20 or more this year while only 24 guys managed that in Robinson's rookie year.
I’ve never been more confident that a rookie will be a top 5 player

so youre telling me if wemby averaged 39 mins, he would be on pace to average 27.8 pts, 13.9 reb, 4.6 ast, 1.7 stl, 4.4 blk??? holy shit dude

I've just realized that Chet Holgrame reminds me Alonzo.

Never in my life have I seen a 7'4 dude bring the ball up the court then crossover the defender and nail a logo 3.
Wemby also averaging 28 minutes a game doing all this. 😂

The scariest thing about this is that San Antonio has Atlanta by the balls.
David Robinson underrated!!!

I was so sure back then that Luka would be a superstar in 2018 but i have never thought that someone would overtake that until Wemby
Memories are short.
