- Staying in a hotel is a relaxing experience most of the time. But sometimes it can be overshadowed by some pretty unpleasant things. A dirty bathroom, a broken chair... or a phone charger left in the room. Why is it a warning indicating you should leave your room ASAP? Could anyone spy on you through a phone charger?

I used to work for an executive protection firm. I was paid by the firm to go to their clients home do bug sweeps. I also did this to cars and limos. The most common places to hid a tracker on the exterior of your car are:
1. On the frame rails under the car
2. Under the rear bumper
3. In the spare tire well
The most creative one I ever saw was inside the splash guard in the rear wheel well. My RF and EMF detector were going nuts but I couldn't see anything. I had to remove the splash guard to finally see it. Very sophisticated.
Inside the car:
1. In the cigarette lighter disguised as a phone charger or other device
2. Buried deep in the center console (most folks rarely go in there unless they need something specific)
3. In the OBD port (the plug on the driver's side usually next to or near the hood release, used by mechanics to diagnose a check engine light or other caution light). These are usually the most sophisticated ones because the are very well camouflaged since the probability that their target will see it accidentally is very high, also because it's plugged directly into the vehicle, it does not need batteries and is powered by the car itself and can go unnoticed for a very long time without it needing to be serviced by the person who put it there. This is less common though.
Hope this helps.
why were your clients bugged?
@@mtaylor2232 some of them were high profile people. Businessmen mostly that made enemies
@@cameronshultz6105 Now there is an interesting job. I hold a bachelors in cyber-security, but never really thought of this sort of application.
@@Sight-Beyond-Sight ironically, I didn't apply for it either. I applied to work as a bodyguard for the firm cause I'm trained and licensed as such. I did do that for a short time and one of the duties was a bug sweep for certain clients. I kinda had a knack for it and they had me almost exclusively doing that for over two years. I still did some exec pro work, sometimes driving and armored vehicle but mostly bug sweeps.

My friend found a clock with a hidden camera on the desk one time. It's scary cause you wouldn't notice at first sight unless you have your flash on. Careful, there are a lot of creeps out here.

By the time I’d get done with scanning the room, it would be time to check out. 🤦♀️😆 I may just stay at home to save time and money. Lol!
Welp, if you're not paranoid at the start of this video, you will be by the end.
Thank you for the information though.

"Get out immediately" sounds a bit dramatic. Personally if I found out there were hidden cameras in my hotel room I would put on a show. Perhaps there's an exhibitionist streak in me but even if you don't feel the same, steal all the free wifi cameras. In fact, steal everything. The hotel can't take any action against you without getting in trouble themselves.

5:53 I had that on my Toshiba laptop. Someone spoke to me from the other side and it terrified me. I was only 14.
I'm a world traveler but this is enough to make me consider just staying home! Won't happen, but it sure is making me think about it, if just a little.
My parents, husband and I stayed in a motel room thirty years ago along with my six month old daughter. I swear that room was bugged but we needed to sleep somewhere. What happened was that my baby soiled herself badly and I needed to give her a bath as soon as we got into the room. There wasn’t a bath tub nor was the sink large enough to wash her in. I mentioned the fact to my mother, who replied that maybe we could ask for one at the front office, instantly the phone rang and we were asked if we required a baby bath. Granted they knew we had a baby so it may have been coincidental.
As I washed the baby, Mum decided to make everyone a cup of tea, but found that there were only three cups. She told me that there weren’t enough cups, instantly the phone rings and we were asked if we needed an extra cup. Again could have been coincidental, they may have known there were only three cups but the timing of the calls was very suspicious. Told Mum that we needed to be very careful what we said, not that we would have had said anything controversial. Only wish I used the opportunity to plan an imaginary bank heist or something to see just what happened.
Definitely sounds suspicious.

A very enjoyable read. I laughed out loud.
I'm a housekeeper. People always leave their usb chargers plugged in and forget about them. Sometimes when you're busy cleaning a room, it's easy to miss something small plugged into an outlet. My apologies for anything I've missed. Please take any leftover items to the desk so they can notify the previous guest. I guarantee, as staff, we don't really care what you do and have better things to do with our day. We'll know everything about you anyways when we clean your room.

Pretty scary world You I think you’d be able to sue hotel or a motel we’re putting cameras in your room you’re paying for the privacy
I must be paranoid cos I've always suspected there are cameras in hotel rooms and I can never relax
I noticed my little old fashioned portable battery radio when it is near another electrical devise emits static. Even near a pulse type object like a bed lamp. Maybe that is useful to detect something. Also wouldn't hurt to just turn the clock radio towards the wall. But the hardest one to detect I imagine is the ceiling fire alarm.
Scary world we're living in. High tech devices have their convenience, but carry with them multiple caveats that are literally nightmares.
Don’t get out, just smash the phone charger and “camera”. if they get mad at you. how would they know?
Happy new year to everyone seeing this video and reading this comment🎉🎉🍾🍾💯💯👍💙
This is very apparent in accommodations and public restrooms in south korea. my favorite technique is the lights off + red cellophane + cellphone's flashlight.
wat da fawk does "accommodations" means? That word is way too long for me to understand.
I don't know what kind of weirdos would be so not paranoid that a hidden camera would be "the last thing you think about" when going on vacation."

Right! Me too!! I watched a movie called Mr. BROOKS. Kevin Costner. It showed him as a serial killer using a magnet on a telescoping stick to slide a chain back or move the metal bar and open the door. That gave me the creeps. Its a pity that this video did not tell people that its much more secure to use a data enabled SIM, rather than using WiFi when you are not in your own office or home.
Is a 'data enabled SIM' the same as using my mobile data allowance from my normal airtime supplier? I hope so because I switch that on when away from my home WiFi router. I assume it is safer than shop/hotel WiFi. And otherwise I'd not use any of that allowance. Answer please, if anyone can reassure me.

I recall staying in a hotel at Belsize Park, London. There were a few devices on the ceiling above my bed, I asked what they were. The receptionist said ''that doesn't concern you''. She had a strong South African accent and I suspect she thought she was still living there by the way she spoke to me.
The devices on the ceiling above the bed were concerning enough. Her reaction to your question sounded snippy. She's a receptionist, representing the place where you we're staying. If she talked to me like that, that hotel would've lost me as a customer!
@@fanaticat1 I eventually left. The staff were cold as ice.

Just the thing the world needs... To make it more paranoid!
I work for Harrah's Cherokee, in a position that would definitely know, Trust me, in a reputable Hotel this would never happen. A guests room is one of the safest places to be.
You feel, chances of this happening in three or five star hotels are less?
@@MsHSpring I know as an employee of a place that can read the year off a random penny lying on the floor that with few exceptions, the rooms are THE ONLY places you can hide undetected from some kind of surveillance.
@@Office_De_Receiver_Complaints ohhh ok.. thank you.. I always used to think that this would never happen in high end hotels.. but Jeff Bezos of Amazon said he was blackmailed about some photos and videos of an illegal relationships that he had, but I’m not sure if they were taken when he was in a hotel.. I also still worry wondering, what if the workers in those hotels plant something without the knowledge of the management? Like the room service guys 🤔 they can keep some small device 1 day and remove it the next day.. is there a check on them?
@@MsHSpring That is possible, as in that could be humanly done. But in real life no, that would be really far fetched. Have you ever met a housekeeper or hotel worker? I mean in the movies or oceans eleven that stuff happens all the time, but in a real hotel you often have a language barrier to get by, all that takes elaborate, complex planning to pull off in a very small window of time to do it in. And more likely than not it would be seen and caught by a high profile guest because they are usually not alone and have people working for them who catch that kind of stuff. Generally a famous person never stays anywhere without a VIP host and every employee is handpicked and watched when they bring room service or linen etc. It'd be very hard.
Great tips
